Today's meditation is inspired by the impromptu camping trip I took my son on two nights ago.
We're going to focus on allowing ourselves to truly surrender our defects,
And instead of rebuilding them and continuing to engage in them,
Truly giving them to our higher power or the universe or whatever you call it,
To handle instead.
So before we begin,
Find a place where you can settle in,
Where you can be quiet and free from distraction for the duration of your meditation.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose,
Drawing the breath all the way down into your belly as it expands,
And then gently releasing the breath through your mouth,
Breathing at your own natural soothing rhythm,
Allowing each inhale to wash through your mind,
Clearing away any thoughts,
Any stress,
Any tension,
Releasing anything that no longer serves you with each exhale,
Each breath bringing both your body and mind deeper and deeper into relaxation,
Allowing a soothing stillness to enter you,
Calming your body,
Allowing your muscles to relax,
Your mind is slow,
And you to become rooted in this present moment.
Part of being human is always having defects to some extent or another,
But as you walk the path of recovery,
You become aware of the defects that create harm and discord,
Bringing your path out of alignment with the plan of the universe.
And once you become aware of these defects,
They become more and more uncomfortable as you cannot become unaware.
Bringing to mind a defect that is present in you,
That is especially troublesome in your life.
And now in your mind's eye,
Envision yourself standing on a sandy,
Clear beach with clear blue water lapping in and out.
And upon the beach,
You see a sand castle.
And the sand castle is the physical representation of your defect.
Notice the size that this sand castle is,
Becoming aware of its structure,
Whether or not it's thrown together or if it's intricate.
And as you inhale,
The water laps up to the sand castle.
Breathing out as the water recedes,
Carrying away with it some of the sand.
And with each breath you take,
You watch as the sand castle,
Bit by bit,
Is carried out into the water.
And as the sand castle diminishes in size,
You make the choice not to rebuild it.
You make the choice not to engage in the defect that it represents,
Allowing the water to remove it once and for all,
Bit by bit.
Being aware that you could go and you could reconstruct the sand castle.
You could build back up your defect,
But instead choosing to allow the universe,
To allow the water to tear it down bit by bit and remove it.
And as you continue breathing,
As the water laps in and laps out,
It becomes barely noticeable until eventually it's as if it never existed.
As long as you continue to surrender this defect,
The water will continue to lap in and out,
Keeping the shore clear,
Peaceful and maintained.
Take a deep breath and gently wiggle your fingers and your toes,
Bringing awareness back into your body.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
How cool is it that we can surrender our defects and as long as we don't keep engaging in them and keep rebuilding them,
Just like with sand castles on a shoreline,
They'll ultimately be removed and it will be as if they never existed as long as we keep doing our part.
You can come back and visit this meditation with any defect that you're struggling with.
Thank you so much for joining me today.
Have a wonderful day.
Namaste.
