Hello everyone,
And welcome to today's meditation on resiliency.
Resiliency is being able to bounce back and recover quickly from any of life's mistakes or difficulties,
Finding meaning in even the hardest of moments.
I invite you now to find a comfortable position.
Gently close your eyes and relax into your body.
Beginning to notice your breath.
Watching your breath as you inhale through your nose and watching it move down your body all the way to your feet.
And on your exhale,
Watching it travel back up your body and out your mouth,
Almost as if it is bouncing back.
And just let the external world fall away,
Focusing on your inner world,
Your inner cycle of breath.
Watching on stabilizing your breath,
Finding a natural and steady rhythm.
Moreartz to us.
Being resilient means maintaining an inner calm and stability,
Even when the outside environment is shaky.
It's how we react to situations and circumstances,
Both in and out of our control.
At times,
It can feel like everything around us is crumbling,
Wiping out what we've built,
What we've worked so hard on,
What we've invested hours of energy and time into.
But if we're still standing,
And even standing tall,
Despite the earthquake around us,
That means we're resilient,
That we have a solid foundation built on inner qualities that are stable,
Grounding,
And uplifting to get us through some of our most difficult times.
And in some of life's difficulties,
We fall,
And that's okay.
But how do you get out of the rubble?
What did you learn from falling?
When we fall,
That's when we can take a good,
Hard look to see what we can learn,
How we can rebuild ourselves and strengthen our foundation,
And how we can come back even better than before.
We teach our kids that it's okay to fail sometimes,
And that you learn from your mistakes and your failures.
But too often,
We don't take the advice ourselves.
Instead,
We engage in negative self-talk,
Which only crumbles us more,
Instead of using encouraging and uplifting words to remind ourselves that we are strong,
That we are capable,
And that we are worthy of success.
Begin to think of a recent time in the past,
Either at work or in life,
When you felt something was difficult,
Wasn't going your way,
Or didn't turn out how you wanted.
Maybe it's a mistake you made on an important project,
Or a forgotten task.
Maybe even it's just living in this time of your life,
Where there might be a lot of changes and uncertainty around you.
I want you to project that situation or time on a screen in your mind,
Seeing yourself exactly as you were then.
Same clothing and hair,
Same environment,
Same people around you.
And I want you to watch the situation from the beginning and watch it all the way through for the following two minutes.
And now,
Let's reaffirm our inner stability and resilience.
Grounding into the stability of our innermost foundation,
Which is our breath.
And focusing your attention now on the same breathing pattern as when you started this meditation.
Inhaling and exhaling,
Watching your breath travel down your throat,
Down your stomach,
Down your legs and your feet,
And bouncing back up your body.
Simply focusing on the inhales and exhales of your breath,
Watching each inhale and each exhale.
And let's take five deep breaths together while you continue to watch your breath move down and up.
Inhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Inhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Inhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Inhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Inhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Now begin to project that same situation or time on a screen in your mind,
Seeing yourself exactly as you were then,
Same clothing and hair,
Same environment,
Same people around you,
Except this time you're carrying with you that inner stability and resiliency.
You're standing tall,
Moving through the situation with a refound ease and grace.
And now watch the situation,
Play with these changes in your demeanor.
Watch it all the way through from beginning to end for the next two minutes.
Two,
Three,
Four.
