Getting yourself into a comfortable position,

Taking a few intentional breaths and letting go of any tightness in your body,

Congratulating yourself for taking this time just for you.

Breathing steadily in and out,

Feeling your body relax and settle in for a moment of rest and rejuvenation.

As you breathe,

Honouring your journey so far with your new child,

Thinking about everything that has happened since they were born,

The beautiful moments filled with love and joy,

And the challenging moments too.

Keep breathing slowly,

Now turning your mind to the challenges that you've experienced since your baby came into your life.

It's possible that some things haven't been perfect,

That you've felt tired,

Stressed,

Alone or overwhelmed,

And it's likely that your child has behaved in ways that were unexpected.

Placing a hand on your heart and firstly acknowledging that this journey has been difficult,

Talking to yourself gently and softly,

As if you were talking to a loved one or a close friend.

What message do you need to hear now?

Perhaps saying to yourself,

I can see that you're struggling,

I'm here for you.

You are amazing,

You are loved,

You're doing so well at the hardest job in the world,

Sending so much love and compassion to yourself,

And spending a few moments conveying any messages that would be helpful for you right now.

Notice if you have any unhelpful thoughts or beliefs popping up,

Sending them compassion too.

See if you can let go of these thoughts or reframe them to something more neutral,

Such as,

I'm doing my best right now,

I am adjusting to this new life as a parent.

Even when I'm struggling,

I show up for my child,

Taking a conscious breath once again,

And now celebrating all of the ways you have been able to care for this child.

Remember everything that you've done with them,

Bring to mind all of the things that you've learnt to do,

And think about all of the ways in which you've adjusted to your new way of life,

Feeling proud of yourself for the successes that you've achieved so far,

Knowing that this beautiful soul is so thankful for the care that you provide,

Even if they can't show it just yet,

Honouring that the journey of parenthood is filled with change and challenges,

As well as joy,

Feeling a connection to all who have gone before you,

Knowing that many parents all around the world and throughout history have experienced these changes,

Challenges and joys also,

Feel the support and strength from others who know exactly what you're going through,

Visualising this support as a colourful energy swirling around you,

Helping you,

Holding you,

Keeping you safe,

And giving you permission to keep going,

Bringing this sense of self love and support with you,

And continue to offer love and kindness to yourself as you progress through your parenting journey,

Bringing yourself back to the present now,

Feeling so thankful that you made time for yourself today,

Taking this strength and support with you as you return to your day.
