Finding a comfortable position,

Sitting or lying down and gently close your eyes if you wish.

Start by taking a deep breath in through your nose and allowing your abdomen to expand fully.

Hold the breath for a moment and then slowly exhale through your mouth,

Letting go of any tension.

Repeating this breath a few times,

Breathing in deeply and exhaling slowly.

With each breath,

Feel yourself becoming more grounded and centred.

Now bringing your attention to the present moment,

Notice the sensations within your body,

The feeling of the surface beneath you and the rhythm of your breath,

Allowing yourself to fully arrive in the present,

Letting go of any thoughts,

Distractions or worries.

As you continue to breathe deeply,

Beginning to focus on your sense of self,

Imagining a warm light surrounding you,

Creating a safe and protective space,

This light serves as a reminder that you are here now,

In this moment and that you are safe.

Thinking now about who you are beyond your experiences and your trauma,

Considering your strengths,

Your values and the qualities that make you unique,

Reflecting on the things that bring you joy,

The people you care about and the dreams you hold for the future.

Allowing these thoughts to fill you with a sense of purpose and meaning beyond any trauma that you have experienced.

Getting a sense of who you are,

Of what matters to you,

Of things that are unique about you and your joys and goals that you plan to work towards in your life.

To reinforce this strong sense of self,

Repeating some affirmations now,

Either aloud or in your mind,

Allowing the words to resonate deeply within you.

I am not my trauma.

I am a person of worth and value.

My past does not define me.

I am capable of happiness.

I deserve to have a meaningful life.

I am worthy of love.

I respect my body.

I thank my body for keeping me safe.

I look forward to the future.

I am motivated to achieve my goals.

I have the strength to overcome any challenges.

I accept myself as I am right now.

Everything inside of me is okay.

I find love for myself.

I accept all of me.

I am peaceful.

The things that happened to me do not need to define me.

I am my own amazing self.

I love all of my quirks and traits.

I respect and appreciate the real me.

Even the parts that I sometimes don't like.

I accept everything within me.

And I am thankful for all of the ways that my body has protected me.

I let go of any beliefs,

Habits or thoughts that no longer serve me.

I am deserving of love,

Happiness and wellness.

My story is mine.

I acknowledge the memories from my past.

And I craft a new story for my future.

Allowing yourself to believe in your own strength,

Resilience and potential,

Despite what has happened to you prior to today.

Spending a few moments now reciting your own affirmations about your true self.

Start with I am and let your authentic self fill in the rest.

Or create your own affirmations that reflect your truth,

Your values and your goals.

With each breath you take,

Feeling yourself becoming more anchored in your sense of self.

More connected to your purpose and meaning.

When you are ready,

Gently opening your eyes and bringing your awareness back into the present moment.

Remember,

You are not your trauma.

You are not what happened to you.

You are a unique person who is worthy,

Capable of creating a life filled with meaning and purpose.

I love you and I believe in you.

Coming back into your body now and returning to your day.
