In this meditation, you will be guided to create or revisit a safe space within your mind. This space will be a sanctuary that you can retreat to whenever you need, providing soothing relief during moments of stress or intrusive thoughts. By settling into a comfortable position and taking intentional breaths, you will enter a state of relaxation. Inside, you can personalize this space to include all the details that bring you calm and centeredness, allowing you to release negative feelings and find peace.

During this practice,

You will be guided to create or revisit a safe space that you can go to in your mind anytime you like.

Your safe space will be there waiting for you whenever you need it and will have a soothing,

Healing effect on you should you find yourself feeling stressed,

Unsafe,

Overwhelmed or experiencing unhelpful thoughts or unwanted flashbacks.

Begin by settling into a comfortable position and taking a few intentional breaths.

Breathing in deeply and exhaling slowly.

Calming your body,

Bringing yourself into this moment.

Noticing any tension or sensations in your body and consciously releasing any tightness that you can.

Relaxing your body so that you can rest into this present moment.

As you breathe,

Connecting slowly down into your heart space.

Calling all of your consciousness into your heart.

Noticing now that in front of you is a doorway.

You get to decide the design of the door,

The colour,

The style.

Noticing what the door to your safe space looks like.

Noticing that on the other side of this door is a place that you will always be welcome.

A place that you feel at home,

Where you will be in a state of peace.

Noticing a protective glow of light around this door,

Making you feel safe and comfortable.

Knowing that this door will only open for you and anyone you invite through.

When you feel ready,

Opening this door and stepping into your safe space.

This space may be a real location that occurs in the real world.

It could be a memory from a moment in the past.

Or it could be something of your own creation.

A tranquil natural setting.

A luxurious home.

Or a dinner party with your favourite support people.

Just know that your safe space will be perfect for you.

Peering through the doorway if you haven't already and feeling a sense of calmness,

Of connection.

A feeling that you're at home.

Nothing can touch you here.

This is your safe space.

Taking a few moments now to look around and take in all the details of your space.

You may find that your safe space comes together easily or you might need to put together the details in a more conscious way.

However you create and experience your space is absolutely up to you.

Making sure that your safe space is filled with all the details that help you to feel calm and centred.

Exploring what you can do in this space and how it can help you.

Imagine what you might do if you were feeling distressed.

How could you interact with this space to recover?

You might like to invite an animal or several animals into your space.

Or a trusted support person or spiritual being to talk with.

Or maybe you'd like to create some activities that you can do for fun and restoration in this space.

Spending some time now discovering a soothing and restorative activity or healing routine in your safe space.

Feeling totally protected,

At peace and completely relaxed.

Preparing to leave this space for now.

Knowing that you can return easily anytime by opening up your special door.

If you're ever feeling overwhelmed,

Stressed or plagued by unhelpful thoughts,

Remember that you can visit your safe space to feel some relief.

Your safe space will always be here waiting for you.

For now,

It's time to travel back through the door and return into your body.

Taking some deep breaths and returning to your day.
