This is Sarah Lane and welcome to this guided meditation to meet your inner child.
Your inner child is a younger version of yourself.
They can appear at many different ages,
But for the purposes of this meditation,
We'll focus on meeting and healing just one inner child.
For this meditation,
You will need a journal and a pen nearby and ensure that you are in a warm,
Comfortable space with no outside distractions.
So find a comfortable position either sitting upright with your back straight or laying down.
We're going to begin with a body scan and then move into a guided visualization.
Let's begin.
Close your eyes and begin to tune into your breath.
Notice your inhales and exhales.
Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.
Relax your toes.
Relax your ankles.
Relax your shins.
Relax your knees.
Relax your thighs.
Relax your hips.
Relax your belly.
Relax your chest.
Relax your shoulders.
Relax your arms.
Relax your hands.
Relax your neck.
Unhinge your jaw.
Relax your cheeks.
Unfurrow your brow.
Relax your ears.
Relax your scalp.
Now imagine you're in a beautiful safe space.
This could be a beach,
A forest,
A jungle,
Or someplace familiar.
When you find a comfortable space to relax here,
Perhaps it's a hammock,
A beach chair,
A tree,
Or something else that feels really relaxing and cozy.
You kick up your feet and relax deeply into this comfortable safe space.
There's nowhere to go,
No one to be,
And no responsibilities here.
This realization brings a slight smile to your face and you feel happy and relaxed.
While you are relaxing,
You look up and see a child running toward you with a big smile on their face.
As the child comes closer to you,
You realize that this child is you.
The child is so excited to see you and you are excited to see them.
You look at them and say,
Oh I've missed you.
I'm here for you now.
What would you like to do?
Allow your inner child to tell or show you what they want to do.
Now ask your inner child,
How can I love you more?
And listen to what she or he says.
How can I love you more?
Now ask your inner child,
What do you need right now?
And listen to what she or he says.
What do you need right now?
You can say,
How can I love you more?
Spend some time with your inner child exploring the answers to your questions of how can I love you more and what do you need right now.
Hold space for your inner child without any judgment and with unconditional love.
Make a promise to your inner child to love them and give them what they need.
And then embrace in a way that makes your child feel comfortable and gently say your goodbyes knowing that this won't be the last time that you see each other.
And then allow yourself to come back to that quiet,
Safe,
Comfortable place that you were laying in before and allow yourself to drift off into sleep in this comfortable place.
Gently bring your attention to your heart space.
Deepen your breath.
Take a big breath into your belly and exhale to sigh it out of your mouth.
Start to wiggle your fingers and toes.
Gently open your eyes and come back into your body.
Take the next few moments to write down in your journal what came up for you as you met your inner child.
How did you feel?
What were her or his answers to your questions?
What is one thing you can do today to show your love for her or him?
This guided meditation is now complete.
Namaste.
