Engaging motivation for your practice.

Letting yourself know that for the next little while,

There's nothing for you to do,

Nowhere for you to go.

This is a time for you to simply settle in and notice what is happening as it is happening.

There's no right or wrong.

There's just being aware with curiosity,

With kindness.

Letting yourself become aware of your breath.

Letting yourself notice the feeling of being supported.

Inviting the question into your consciousness.

How does my meditation practice benefit my body?

How is my physical being served when I take time to practice mindfulness?

Letting the answer arise naturally and being okay if nothing appears right now in response to the question.

If there is an answer,

Letting yourself find a place for the answer to be as you explore more motivations.

Now bringing attention to your mind,

That part of you that creates and holds thoughts,

That part of you that directs your attention,

And invite the question,

How does my meditation practice benefit my mind?

How is my mental being served when I take time to practice mindfulness?

Now finding a place for this answer to rest as you explore one more source of motivation.

See if you can bring your attention to your heart,

Not just your physical heart,

But that place inside that senses the energy of emotions,

That senses connection.

Getting into that center.

Inviting the question,

How does my meditation practice benefit my heart?

How is my emotional and relational being served when I take time to practice mindfulness?

Now see if you can bring all three of these motivations for practice into the forefront of your awareness.

See if you can bring yourself fully to your practice now.

Just accepting whatever is happening each moment without resistance,

Without chasing or grasping.

Steadying your attention as needed by inviting it to simply rest on your breath.

Realizing and returning to this point of focus,

Like coming home to cultivate an atmosphere of stillness and quiet.

Your sitting practice is your own time,

Your own space,

Your own reality.

The invitation of mindfulness is to allow yourself to practice simply being right here,

Simply noticing right now.

Noticing sensations that arise with kind attention.

There's plenty of room.

And as needed,

Just using your breath as an anchor,

A place where you can let your attention rest as you breathe in and breathe out.

Alright?
