The human body is composed of about 60% water.

The second chakra,

Svadhisthana,

Located in the sacral plexus,

Embodies the qualities of water,

Flow,

Formlessness,

Fluidity,

And surrender.

For this meditation,

I invite you to come into a comfortable position,

Taking your time here,

Making any movements or adjustments to allow yourself to be even more supportive,

Becoming aware of the current of your breath here in its natural state.

The in-breath and out-breath coming and going without you having to do anything at all.

From this place of the witness,

You simply observe.

Observe this flow.

Recognizing it is much like waves crashing upon the shore.

No need to control the waves.

We wouldn't be able to do so anyway.

Just here to observe.

The chakra of Svadhisthana is a yin chakra connected to the quality of receptivity.

Can you allow yourself to melt into a receptive mode?

No need to do anything at all.

Simply observing the waves created by breath.

As you observe the waves of your breath,

You may notice the mind wander.

We can see the mind patterns too as waveforms without having to identify or get caught up in the specific thought.

So too within any emotional state,

Whether waves of emotion,

Waves of thinking are arising in your experience,

Can you meet them with this awareness that is infused with compassion,

Gently guiding your mind back to the breath.

And as we continue to breathe in this way,

Allowing your mind to expand further to encompass your body.

It may even feel supportive to provide hand to put hands on the body,

Perhaps placing a hand on the belly or on the chest.

The arms and hands provide extensions of the heart and wherever you place them you may notice the subtle movement created by breath,

This wave like motion.

And so you are simply here.

Here to receive.

Here to notice.

Without judgment.

In the receptive mode,

Svadhisthana,

The sacral chakra is connected to emotions.

We can think of an emotion as the movement of energy out of the unconsciousness through the body and into the conscious mind.

We tend to repress emotions by restricting movement.

Movement can free emotional holding that causes chronic tension.

So perhaps here there are little gentle movements you can do.

Even moving the belly with breath allows those emotions to move.

It takes quite a bit of energy to repress an emotion.

And when we release this emotion we can release tension.

In fact when we block the movement of an emotion it may remain in our unconscious and cause a little bit of havoc in our lives.

We can think of any emotion,

The basis of which is wanting to move away from something painful and towards that which is pleasurable.

The water,

The wave-like motion,

The formlessness of the chakra reminds us,

Again as beings that are mostly water,

To not hold on to anything.

To let it all flow through you.

Recognizing that in this moment you are safe.

You are supported.

Noticing if there's any of the areas in the body and the breath,

The mind,

That you are restricting.

And perhaps letting those areas soften just a bit with every exhale.

The chakra is also intimately connected to the quality of nurturance.

To be nurtured is a fundamental need of our body,

Of our mind,

And of our soul.

Nurturance means to care for,

To feed with energy,

Love,

And touch.

Can you provide that quality of nurturance to yourself through this hands-on touch on your body?

Through this being with yourself,

No matter what is arising.

Just like you are watering a thirsting plant,

You can water yourself with this attention infused with compassion.

Bringing your awareness back now to the ebb and flow of your breath,

Creating movement as evenly and gracefully as waves upon a shore.

You may even envision or see an orange pulsing light through the pelvis and lower abdomen.

Perhaps feeling into the pulsations of this orange light.

Noticing here this wave of motion of every sound,

Breath,

Light,

Emotion.

It's all oscillation back and forth,

Changing and flowing.

And you can stay here connected to this wave-like sensation for as long as you would like.

And you can always return to the state of self-nurturance.

Namaste
