So,
Just take a moment to settle in,
Just right where you are,
As you are,
And see if you can find a position,
A seat that feels really well supported,
The kind of support that you can completely let go into.
You may surf around in that seat for a moment or so until you find that perfect resting spot.
Maybe you even allow yourself the luxury of a backrest,
Or to even lay down.
Once you land,
Allow yourself really to come to settle.
Feel into the sensation of support within and around your body,
And allow yourself to let go into that support.
If they're not already,
Please invite your eyes to close.
Draw your awareness inside,
So no more sensory perception through the eyes,
Kind of like a turtle withdrawing into his shell.
Start to come inside.
As you shut down the organs of the eyes,
Let the eyeballs soften,
The eyelids and eyelashes soften.
And often when we close down the eyes,
The hearing gets bright.
So just take a moment to notice the soundscape of life that you find yourself in.
Just allow yourself to hear the environment around you,
Any sounds in the room that you're in.
Drawing the awareness in just a little bit more,
Allow the listening to turn inside.
Attune to the very soft and subtle sound of your breath,
See if you can hear the sound of your very soft and subtle breath,
Barely audible to the ears.
And now attuning to the sound of silence from where the breath comes to where the breath returns.
And with a really soft awareness,
Feel the sensation of breath in your body,
Barely perceptible,
The breath so quiet,
So subtle in its movement in your body.
And see if you can attune your awareness to an even more subtle channel,
To feel into the stillness within which the movement of the breath comes and goes.
Simply switching the awareness from the movement of the breath to the stillness within which the breath comes and goes.
It's like the stillness and the silence or the atmosphere and the breath that comes and goes,
Part of the contents in the atmosphere.
So you can switch from being aware of the movement of breath instead to becoming aware of the atmosphere of spacious stillness and silence through which the breath comes and goes.
Remaining at rest as this spacious stillness,
Just let everything else be.
Anything that moves through the atmosphere,
Just let that be what that is.
You remain spacious.
If you find your attention picking up the contents of the moment,
Engaging with thoughts,
Sounds,
Sensations,
Let that be a reminder to turn back to the vast and spacious awareness,
To rest back and just let everything else come and go.
No need to pick up or consume anything that moves through your awareness right now.
If thoughts arise,
No need to consume them,
Just let that be what that is.
Sounds,
Let those be what they are.
Sensations,
The same.
Just feel into what it's like to give yourself this kind of space,
A moment to fast from all of the consumption,
Just space to rest in stillness and silence,
Just a moment to be.
The last minute or so here,
Climb back down into your body and just notice where this stillness and silence lives within you in the moment most completely.
Where do you most feel this quietude in your body?
Lay your awareness there.
It might even help to lay hands on your body there.
Notice if you could gather up this quietude between the palms of your hands.
Hold your hands like a prayer at the center of your heart and remember that you carry this within you.
This patch of stillness and quietude forever awaits your arrival.
You can come to rest here at any time.
You could offer it up like a blessing.
You could allow it to call you home.
As you inhale,
Allow the heart to float up into the thumbs.
And as you exhale,
Relax the weight of the head down low.
And from here,
Remaining quiet,
Allow your eyes to blink open,
Inviting back in the visual landscape.
