Going With The Flow

Sometimes, we try so hard to control everything in life to the point in which we lose control. This meditation is to bring focus on letting go and allowing the flow of the universe move through you and not against you. This practice uses guided imagery to focus on this flow while connecting to our inner spirit animal to protect and restore us.

Transcript

Hello and welcome to this meditation.

Today this meditation will focus on a journey and also remind us about going with the flow of things in life.

So find yourself coming into a comfortable position either sitting or lying down finding a quiet room where you will not be disturbed for the next several minutes.

And as you come into this space and we start to settle in go ahead now and close to the eyes bringing awareness to the breath just checking in with how you feel at this moment in time.

Checking in with the quality of the breath on the inhale and the exhale.

And imagine here is if the breath can wash over you with each breath releasing tension,

Pain,

Worries,

Any negativity at all just allowing the breath to wash over you to remove anything that is no longer serving you from the body.

And then scanning the body relaxing from the top of the head all the way down to the tips of the toes just letting everything relax.

Feeling fully supported here and at ease.

Let's go ahead now and take the awareness into the present moment by just listening and observing to some of the noises coming from around you in the room.

Just listening and being the observer without paying too much thought to what it is you're witnessing.

And then taking the awareness now to the breath on the inhale and the exhale just exploring the breath here for a few moments.

Maybe on the inhale focusing in your mind I am inhaling and on the exhale saying to yourself I am exhaling.

Giving your mind something to focus on here as you focus on that breath.

And let's go ahead start to focus on the spaces in between the breaths.

The space between the exhale and the next inhale.

And the space between the inhale and the exhale just exploring these spaces bringing the awareness to these spaces between breaths.

And then from here allowing the breath to be easy.

Now taking the awareness to the imagination.

So imagine that you are walking through a forest along the side of a river and you're walking along this river and you notice that the flow of the river seems forceful.

So you do your very best to stay away from the river.

So you walk alongside through the forest and as you keep walking down the path you notice that the path is getting narrower and narrower to where you're getting closer to the edge of this river.

And you're trying so hard to stay on shore but you lose your balance and you accidentally fall into this river.

And as you fall in the current starts to pull you downstream.

And you try to swim and swim and swim to get back to shore to the place where you fell in.

But after a while you start to get tired and you just let the river and the current take you downstream.

But as you start to release and give up the fight the current of the river starts to settle down.

Where you're able to stand up and walk out onto the banks.

And as you walk out of this river you notice that the place where the river has taken you to is a wonderful beautiful place and you get this feeling of nothing but unconditional love and light.

A place like no other.

You feel safe,

Secure,

At ease.

Seems like nothing can bother you here in this space.

And as you take a look around you notice the trees gently blowing in the wind and all the beautiful birds singing their songs.

And as you walk through you start to see a light through these trees which is the sun.

And being so exhausted from trying to swim you find a place to rest.

So you walk toward the space in the trees where the sun is shining brightly.

So as you're walking through the darkness of the trees at the end you see this light.

And as you get to the end of the path you see this open space.

And as you look up you could see the blue sky and the warm sun shining down on your skin.

You also see a bench.

And being so tired you walk over to this bench and have a seat.

And as you sit on this bench it feels like the most comfortable bench you've ever sat in.

Feeling fully supported and just taking all the tension away from your physical body.

You feel as if this bench can heal.

And as you sit here you notice an animal approaching you.

Now here you're going to imagine an animal whatever you feel a spirit animal of yours is.

Any color,

Any kind.

Just imagine as if this animal is there to protect you.

As if it was an old friend there to fully support you.

So your spirit animal sits next to you.

And you feel as if this animal can take away all your cares,

All your worries.

Anything at all that's not serving you,

You can surrender it here to your friend.

And the longer we sit in this space the more at ease we feel,

The more peaceful.

We feel serene,

Calm,

And happy.

And we know that this animal remains in our hearts to protect us on our journey here in our lives.

To help us and guide us.

To help us through our troubles.

So taking a few quiet moments of contemplation and surrendering any thoughts to your friend which you feel you need to say.

Maybe something you need to get off of your chest.

You just want to sit quietly.

Maybe you seek an answer to a question about your journey.

And after a few quiet moments here,

Always knowing that you can come back here whenever you need this guidance.

A reminder of protection,

Love,

And light.

So as we finish,

Our friend gently moves away,

Going off into the trees,

Taking with him all the things that we've surrendered to be renewed and restored into love and light energy.

So as we start to feel fully rested,

We get up off of the bench.

We walk back down the path in which we came.

And then again we come upon this river.

This time we're not afraid to get in.

We feel strong,

We feel courageous,

And ready to be guided to where it is we need to go.

And we look upstream to the place where we started and realize we don't need to be there anymore.

We don't have to fight to get back.

And as we look downstream,

We realize that is the place where we need to go and no longer being afraid of where that place may lead.

Knowing that the universe will fully support us on our path.

As long as we let go of the control to allow that to happen.

So from here we jump into the river willingly and let the currents carry us down the banks.

Toward love and light,

Toward joy,

And toward happiness.

Allowing everything to happen as it should.

And knowing that in life things happen for reasons and sometimes those reasons aren't meant for us to be understood.

But realize that they happen.

And it'll all work out as long as we go with the flow.

So from here let's go ahead again and bring the awareness back to our breath.

Feeling the inhale and the exhale.

Gently moving back through the fingers and toes bringing the awareness back into the physical body.

Slowly coming back into this present moment.

And then gently open the eyes.

Ready to go back on your path,

On your journey,

Living your life's purpose.

Put the spirit in me,

Bows to and respects the spirit in you and all living beings.
