Welcome to this Yoga Nidra practice that centers the seven main chakras in the body as well as a deep sense of peace.

This practice will invite you to experience the chakras and the flow of energy in your body.

So find a position that is comfortable,

That you'll be able to maintain for this practice session and cozy up.

Make yourself warm,

Perhaps a blanket,

A bolster under the knees.

Some people like to have an eye covering.

And bring in this element of the eight limbs of yoga,

Pratyahara.

So we're withdrawing the senses from the outer world and turning our focus inward.

And bring a sense of gratitude for yourself and your own wisdom that guides you towards practices that support your awakening and deepening understanding of what it means to be human and what your deepest calling is in this lifetime.

So start by taking some nice long inhales through the nose.

And then exhaling fully through the mouth.

Perhaps exhaling on a sigh.

Again,

Inhaling through the nose.

Exhaling through the mouth.

And this time as you inhale,

I want you to stretch and squeeze every part of the body.

Lift the legs off the ground.

Lift the arms slightly off the floor.

Squeeze everything.

Hold the breath.

Hold the breath and exhale.

Again,

We're gonna inhale deeply.

Holding and squeezing everything.

Holding and squeezing.

And exhaling one last time.

One deep inhale and one deep squeeze through the body.

Squeezing and holding.

And exhaling fully.

And now allow yourself to start to melt into the surface below.

Let the legs fall a little bit away from each other.

The ankles relaxing.

You may even wish to circle the ankles a few times to encourage them to find a released way to be on the floor.

Same thing with the arms.

You may just bring the wrists up and circle them a few times and then gently let them land.

Palms up a little bit away from the body.

We're really opening the centers of the body.

The 72,

000 nadis that flow through the body.

Energy meridians that carry that pranic force,

That life force,

The life energy to every cell,

Every organ,

Every tissue,

Dancing with life,

Teeming with life.

And if there's any small adjustments you wanna make on the neck,

The shoulders,

To become even a little more comfortable,

Please do that now.

And even though yoga nidra is practiced in stillness,

Please know if there's any moment where you need to make small adjustments to be more comfortable.

Give yourself full permission to do that.

And now is the moment to bring your sankalpa or intention to mind.

It is traditional in yoga nidra that you hold an intention for the practice.

If you have a primary sankalpa that you're working with,

Then please bring it to mind here.

If you want to call upon a secondary sankalpa specifically for this practice,

Since we are pinging the chakras,

Then I invite you to create an intention now focusing with the chakras,

The energy centers of the body.

Something such as this practice aligns and enlivens my chakras.

This practice allows me to more fully contact and understand deeply through experience the chakra centers in the body.

Or perhaps something even a little more simply such as I am aligning deeply with the chakras I am aligning deeply with the energy centers through the body.

I am aligning deeply with the energy centers and the wisdom of them through the body.

And please don't bring any judgment to yourself as we ping these chakras.

Don't make a list like I'm doing great or I'm doing terrible,

But rather open to whatever awareness is there to be gleaned and know that this is a lifetime's process to continually refine and deepen our connection to these energy centers and the wisdom that each one embodies and offers us.

And now yoga nidra begins.

Bring your awareness to the base of the spine,

The base of the spine,

The seat of muladhara,

The root chakra.

And just see if you can sense the energy,

The aliveness at the root of the spine.

And as you are breathing your natural rhythmic breath,

See if you can draw the inhale down,

The whole way down,

Down,

Down to the base of the spine,

The root chakra.

And sense into your feeling of belonging and connection to life,

Your sense of stability,

A sense of being grounded and secure.

With each inhale,

Allow that sense of stability and groundedness,

Safety and belonging increase.

And we will place the mantra lam.

At the root chakra,

Listening and sensing the mantra at the base of the spine,

Lam.

With these bija syllables,

Just mentally chant along and allow the vibration to engage and energize the chakra center as well as potentially start to move or clear any blocks.

You can visualize the energy really flowing through the vibration of the bija syllable.

Lam.

Lam.

Lam.

And now bring your awareness to the sacrum and the sacral chakra,

Svadhisthana,

At the level of the sexual organs.

In the Tibetan chakra system,

It's called the secret chakra,

The seat of your creativity,

Sensuality,

Sexuality,

Connected to our relationships and also an enthusiasm for life,

A juiciness,

A level of engagement and openness in this second chakra at the level of the sexual organs.

Allow the breath to flow to the sexual seat.

And we will place the mantra vam,

The bija syllable of the second chakra.

Vam.

Vam.

Vam.

Vam.

And now bring your awareness to the navel point or the solar plexus,

Manipura,

The third chakra,

The seat of a healthy sense of ego,

The ability to actualize yourself in this world,

To create the life you want to have,

To get things done,

To set boundaries.

Vam.

The seat of your personal power and efficacy.

The bija syllable is ram,

The third center.

Ram.

Ram.

Ram.

Ram.

And now the fourth chakra,

Anahata,

The heart center,

Ter,

The seat of your beautiful beating heart,

As well as the heart's center of compassion,

Love,

Generosity,

Kindness,

Courage.

Bringing your awareness and letting it rest at the heart,

Ter.

Perhaps allowing the in-breath to expand and open the heart just a little more.

And with the exhalation,

Feeling a sense of deep gratitude for the wisdom of the heart,

The stamina of the heart.

The seat syllable is yam.

Yam.

Yam.

Yam.

Yam.

And now bringing your awareness into the throat center,

Vishuddha chakra,

At the level of the throat and the voice.

The center that supports you in speaking your truth,

Living in authenticity,

Speaking and also listening,

Knowing when to speak up,

Knowing when to cultivate quiet,

Knowing when to listen.

Also the seat of laughter and joy,

Of song,

Poetry,

Literature,

Another great creative center in the body.

The bija syllable is ham.

Ham.

Ham.

Ham.

Ham.

And now bring your awareness to ajna,

The sixth chakra,

The brow point between the two eyebrows,

Often called the third eye point.

The seat of intuition and insight,

Connecting you to your own deepest wisdom,

Allowing you to see clearly.

The mantra is om.

Om.

Om.

Om.

Om.

And now bringing your awareness to the crown chakra,

The top of the head,

Your connection to the great all that is and ultimate reality,

Your connection to your own infinite potential,

Centered in light and love,

Compassion and service.

Your point of interconnection to all other beings and energy flowing through the universe,

Your divine connection to all that is.

Mantra can be silence itself or it can be om as well.

So we will place an om at the crown chakra,

The thousand-petaled lotus.

Om.

Om.

Om.

And on this last om,

See if you can feel the energy flowing the whole way from the base of the spine through all the chakra centers,

Through the top of the head and end and know that all the chakras are interconnected,

They function as a whole.

We tease each one out individually to understand it more fully,

But we recognize that they are interdependent and things such as love,

Compassion,

Creativity flow through every single chakra and they feed and nourish each other.

Peace and stability in Muladhara allows for the sensuality and joy in Svadhisthana which allows for a healthy sense of self in Manipura which allows the heart to be open and kind,

Courageous and loving,

Which is the basis for right speech.

In Vishuddha,

The ability to speak up for yourself and others,

The ability to listen with compassion which in itself creates and helps to support the insight and wisdom of Ajna,

The brow point.

And through that insight,

Clarity and deep connection to our own wisdom,

We open to and vibrate with the wisdom,

Love,

Divine energy and potential of the entire universe through the crown chakra.

So in this moment,

Just invite the energy flow through the entire system of the seven main chakras.

Feel that flow of energy the whole way from the base of the spine through the top of the head.

Delighting in your connection to these energy centers and your own innate wisdom,

Clarity,

Connection and bliss.

Aum.

Aum.

Aum.

And now I invite you to place an Aum at the center of each palm.

There are also two chakras,

One in each palm center.

Aum.

And now place an Aum on the bottom of each foot.

Also chakras at the bottom of the feet.

Aum.

Aum.

Aum.

And now sense the whole body from the bottom of both feet to both ankles,

Both knees,

Both thighs.

Aum.

The pelvic bowl in both hips,

Both palms,

Wrists,

Elbows and shoulders,

The entire torso,

Front to back,

Side to side,

Inside and outside.

Aum.

And the entire head and the lips,

The tip of the tongue,

The upper and lower teeth,

The left and right nostril,

The left and right eyes,

The left and right ears,

The left and right eyebrow,

The top of the head,

The back of the head,

The front and back of the neck.

Aum.

Aum.

Aum.

And now experience the whole body as heavy as you're lying on the support beneath you.

The legs are heavy.

The arms are heavy.

The head is heavy.

The whole body is heavy,

The whole body,

Heavy and relaxing,

Melting into the floor,

Into the cushions beneath you,

Experiencing heaviness in the body.

But the body is also light,

Light as air,

Each cell suffuse with light.

The arms are light.

The legs are light.

The pelvis,

A bowl of light.

The body is light.

Experience lightness as you're lying on the floor,

So light you could even float up off the floor.

You might even float above the body,

But knowing there's always a golden thread connecting you back into the physical body.

Light as air,

Lighter than air.

Each finger light and floating,

The jaw light.

Each strand of hair,

The entire scalp light,

Light as air.

And now experience a deep peace in the body,

A deep sense of peace,

Gentleness,

Kindness,

Openness through the whole body,

The whole body full of peace,

Peace in every nook and cranny,

Peace radiating from every cell.

And experience peace in the body,

A deep sense of peace in the body.

And bring your awareness to the breath,

Noticing the gentle rising and falling of the breath in the body happening naturally without effort or control.

Allow your awareness to rest in the low abdomen,

Noticing how with the in-breath there's a natural rising and with the out-breath there's a natural falling.

Not controlling the breath,

Just observing it,

The natural rising and falling at the abdominal center.

And if you'd like to imagine a sense of peace increasing with every inhalation and sending peace out with every exhalation,

You can bring the sense of peace increasing and expanding and also sending out to others and yourself to find again peace on every exhale.

And now bring your awareness to the heart's center,

The heart nestled between the two lungs,

The lungs expanding with breath as you inhale and falling as you exhale,

Noticing the gentle rising and falling at the upper chest lung level.

And again,

Inhaling,

Breathing in peace and sending the abundance of peace back out.

Peace as you breathe in,

Peace as you breathe out.

As Thich Nhat Hanh says,

Peace in oneself,

Peace in the world.

And now bring your awareness to the tip of the nostrils,

Noticing there's a gentle flow of air at the nostrils as you inhale and exhale,

The point where the outer and inner meet the gateway of the breath.

Delighting in the in-breath,

Breathing in peace,

Delighting in the exhale,

Sending peace back out for all to find and for you to find in moments that it is needed.

And breathing in peace,

Breathing out peace.

As Thich Nhat Hanh says,

Being peace.

The body,

Mind,

And spirit,

And breath,

A generator and transformer that can create and increase peace,

That can align with peace,

That can welcome peace,

And that recognizes peace as it is arising in all of its permutations.

Peace in every breath,

Peace in each blooming flower,

Peace in every heart that is full of love,

Peace in the waves of the ocean,

Peace in the falling snow,

Peace in the flapping wings of birds,

Peace in the fawn nestled in the wood,

Sleeping quietly,

Peace in the wind blowing through the leaves of a tree,

Peace in the sap that is rising in the tree,

Peace in the stars twinkling in the night sky,

Thousands upon thousands of stars and starlight,

The moon in its orbit radiating peace,

The sun nourishing the planet and each one of us.

And now is the moment to bring to mind your sankalpa,

Your intention for this yoga nidra practice,

And bring it to mind quietly,

Silently,

And repeat it three times,

Trusting that it is already happening and will only increase.

Seeing yourself in your mind's eye,

Lying down,

Practicing yoga nidra,

Seeing the four walls of the room that you're in,

The floor and the ceiling,

Seeing yourself in deep rest and practice.

And if you intend to fall asleep,

May you sleep deeply and soundly.

May the restorative benefits of deep and restful healing sleep abound.

And if you will continue on with your day,

Trust that you can bring with you any wisdom or insights that were found through this practice period,

Bringing the alignment of the chakras,

Bringing a deep sense of peace and well-being.

That will naturally radiate out from you and touch others as you go about your day.

This was a lovely yoga nidra practice and your voice is wonderful - if I would have had the chance to wish I would have appreciated more silence and additional repetitions of each mantra, it would have made it possible, for me, to sense deeper inside, letting go and to feel the light and warmth - thank you 🙏✨
