Cool,
You made it.
Take a deep breath.
In through the nose,
Slow and deliberately.
When you get to the top,
Pause for a couple of counts.
And I want you to imagine blowing everything that's happened in the day so far away.
Go on,
Blow it all away.
And when you're ready,
Take another deep breath.
In through the nose,
Nice and slow.
Hold at the top.
And really blow it all away.
This is your time.
Time to relax.
We can't control everything in life,
But we can certainly control what we think about in the moment.
When you're serving customers,
They're coming at you with questions,
Concerns,
Complaints.
Not all the time,
But the hard things,
Well,
Are the hard things to deal with.
Let's take a moment to just let them go.
One more deep breath.
I get it.
It's tricky.
It's tiring.
It's stressful.
But one thing that you can do for yourself right now is leave everything that happened in the past.
You can't control who walks into the shop.
You can't control what's going on for them.
What you can control is right now.
You're on your break,
Hopefully with something warm to drink,
Maybe something cool.
But it's your time to relax.
So I want you to take another deep breath in.
Hold at the top.
And blow it all away.
I'm going to leave the music playing for a little while yet.
I don't mind what you do with your time.
But I have one request.
You put your phone down.
You don't look at it for the next five or so minutes.
You can do that.
There's a lot of science that says a break from digital devices really gives our minds a chance to refresh and really relax.
If you feel like doing something,
I want you to just become aware of your breath.
It's probably something you might not have done for a while.
Just become aware of how the breath enters the body.
Is it at the nose?
At the chest?
Perhaps you feel it in the belly.
Just get curious about the breath.
If your mind wanders,
It's totally cool.
But this really is about your time.
I'll leave you to listen to the music now.
Just breathing gently in and out with your natural rhythm.
Cool.
I hope you enjoyed that.
You might just find when you come back from your break,
You're more energized.
Able to really listen and be there for the customers no matter what they're saying.
Remembering they're just words.
They don't mean anything about you.
Whatever's going on for the customer,
Well,
It's important to them.
And maybe,
Just maybe if you can listen,
You'll be able to solve their problem.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
