Welcome.
Begin by finding a comfortable position.
Let your eyes soften or close.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in and gently exhale.
Feel yourself arriving in this moment.
Allow your breath to be easy and natural.
As human beings,
We are like velcro balls.
Everything around us is sticky.
We attach without effort,
Without intention,
To thoughts,
Emotions,
Places,
Stories.
And beneath this attachment is an illusion.
The illusion that things are permanent,
Unchanging.
But if we pay attention,
We see that everything is in flux.
Each moment is new.
Each breath is new.
Already you are not the same person you were a minute ago.
Feel the breath.
Rising.
Falling.
Changing with each cycle.
When we let go of the illusion of permanence,
We open the door to unattachment.
Unattachment does not mean coldness or indifference.
It means relating fully to what is here,
While knowing it will change.
It means meeting this moment completely and then letting it drift away,
Like a leaf floating down a stream.
Now,
Bring to mind any attachments you may be carrying with you now.
Perhaps an expectation of how someone should act,
How you should feel,
Or how life should unfold.
Without force,
See if you can loosen your grip.
Notice the relief that comes with softening.
Breathe in,
And as you exhale,
Let something go.
To live unattached is to trust the direction of the universe,
To let life flow where it will,
While you remain steady in yourself.
Even here,
In these few moments,
You have changed.
Your body,
Your mind,
Your awareness,
They've all shifted.
Take one last deep breath in,
And slowly release it.
As you move into the rest of your day,
Remember,
You don't have to rid yourself of all attachments.
Simply notice where they cause tension or suffering,
And allow them to soften.
Meet each moment as it is,
Knowing it will change,
Knowing you will change.
When you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
May you carry this feeling of unattachment through the rest of your day.
