Hello and thank you for joining me for this Mind the Pain mindfulness meditation aimed at reducing the stress,
Pain,
And anxiety caused by endometriosis.
As much as I enjoy our time together,
This will be just a short anxiety buster before a stressful team's meeting or Zoom if your organization is a bit more flush with cash,
Or if you're about to go to the doctor's or just seeing someone you don't really want to hang out with and need a little calm down ahead of it.
Either way,
You're in the right place.
And remember,
Reducing our stress will also reduce our pain.
We'll start with four really deep belly breaths in,
But we're going to add an extra inhale for each breath.
This is called the physiological sigh,
Which helps us regulate your nervous system more effectively.
I also want you to pay attention to the breath the whole time and take your mind off of any nagging thoughts of what's to come because it simply doesn't matter,
Especially when measured against the eons of time.
So just a deep belly breath in and an extra quick inhale and exhale.
Once again,
Deep belly breath in and extra quick inhale and exhale.
And again,
Deep belly breath in,
Extra inhale and exhale.
And one last time,
Deep belly breath in,
An extra quick inhale and exhale.
Well done.
Now I obviously can't continue to stay with you during the day to remind you to keep breathing deeply.
Apparently I'd be open to illegal action by trying to make that happen.
I don't know.
But when you're in that Zoom or Teams meeting or seeing your old frenemy for some drinks and you can feel your muscles tensing or the fight-or-flight response starting to perk up,
Just check in with your body.
Sit up straight,
Relax the shoulders and your pelvic floor and just keep being your amazing self.
And also do the deep breath thing again.
That's very,
Very helpful.
I really hope that's provided some relief and stopped any mental chatter.
But if you need one other boost,
Just remember that you're a warrior through and through.
Ain't nothing gonna bring you down,
Not even endometriosis.
And if you can survive that,
You can survive anything.
So just one more deep belly breath in,
Wiggle the fingers and toes and gently open your eyes.
You've got this.
Oh and don't forget to breathe out.
Forgot to mention that.
Yeah,
Breathe out.
You've got this.
