The time before our surgery can be incredibly anxiety-inducing. This meditation helps us to relax and imagine it going well. This is especially important since science shows that a positive mindset before surgery can have substantial benefits for our recovery. And don't forget that a 'positive mindset' doesn’t mean pretending everything is fine - it means cultivating calm, realistic hope, and feeling supported and empowered going into surgery. You’ve got this, warrior :) Massive thanks to Music by Alex Wit from Pixabay For the beautiful background music.

Hello and thank you so much for joining me for this mind over endo pain meditation where we use science-based mindfulness tools to manage your endometriosis stress pain and anxiety when you're ready I invite you to close your eyes or keep an unfocused gaze in front of you whichever you prefer sitting up straight or lying down your head shoulders belly and full body slowly letting go and just relaxing I can't tell you enough how proud I am that you're here I know your mind is probably in a weird place right now if you're in the days weeks or even months ahead of an upcoming surgery but don't worry warrior you know you can trust yourself and your medical team with this decision because you've done your homework and you know that you're in the amazing hands of wonderful doctors went to school for a very very long time just let the professionals do what they do best and just feel safe finally letting go and just allow yourself to be fully taken care of just like you deserve it'll all be okay so let's start by getting comfortable and arrive in this moment of stillness with the breath by taking a deep inhale in an extra quick inhale to fill your body up and a nice sigh out just feel all the air escape one more time just take a deep inhale in an extra quick inhale to fill your body up and a nice sigh out feeling all the air escape our anxiety and thoughts can be debilitating with the what-ifs as we traverse the unknown of this next step but it's important to remember our thoughts are not facts and they will purposely play tricks on us because of our brains default negativity bias putting us into fight-or-flight releasing unnecessary cortisol throughout our body this is obviously not helpful as you get your body ready for the next step in your healing so we're going to imagine it going well because the truth is we don't truly know what the future holds but we know that we can and will cope with whatever comes and that we're in great hands so why not give the good thoughts some air time for a change shall we so as you breathe in and out just gently tune into your body feel where there's any tension or pain and just direct your breath into those areas without judgment or wishing it were different as hard as that can be just take a deep breath in and a nice slow exhaling continuing with the deep breaths just begin to picture yourself on the day feeling relaxed and at peace remembering that it's okay for a bit or even incredibly anxious that's totally normal and just watch your body release loosen and let go feel a golden light surround your body with healing energy a cocoon of absolute safety just watch as any of the tension just slowly melts away with every inhale and exhale witness yourself cozy on the stretcher with a warm blanket on you as the nurses gently guide you on your journey even if we're still scared we know the good drugs are coming and that no matter what we'll feel at ease soon breathing in and out feel this wave of self-trust and assurance wash over knowing knowing that you're safe and in great hands and just picture yourself waking up feeling so much love and care around you as you finally feel a sense of utter relief what we've been waiting for stay with your body sending it nothing but love and compassion as we prepare it for the next step in its healing remembering that the hard part will be over so soon not even though the healing journey ahead can be tough at times there's truly nothing you can't handle and no matter what you'll cope and remain in tune with your body and its needs just like you're doing now you're gonna do great and before we come back to the room we'll just take a big inhale in through the nose and a nice big sigh out one more time big inhale in through the nose and a nice long sigh out just getting out all the tension all the nervous energy we'll wiggle the fingers and toes give ourselves a nice big stretch and slowly open your eyes we can't predict what will happen but we can rest on our faith that we're in amazing hands and that we've taken all the right steps to finally get to this point even if the road was rocky and now it's time for someone else to take care of us so we can properly heal don't be scared warrior as hard as that can be be so excited and hopeful for this next chapter the brain needs it and your body to go on warrior you've got this
