Take a moment to become present here and now.
Notice where you are in the room,
What you can see.
Notice the feel of the chair against your body,
What you can touch.
Notice what you can hear outside of yourself.
Close your eyes or lower your gaze so that you can concentrate on what is inside.
Notice sensations inside your body.
Notice your breath.
Tune into your thoughts.
Ask yourself exactly what am I thinking right now.
Tune into your emotions.
Ask yourself how do I feel emotionally right now.
We're going to have a rehearsal and I want you to open your imagination and listen carefully to what I'm describing.
Now imagine you are on your way to a really important meeting,
Perhaps an exam or an interview.
You are driving or going by bus.
Picture yourself in this situation.
Notice the sensations in your body as you imagine you are on your way to this important meeting.
Notice your emotions.
How do you feel?
Notice your thoughts as you travel towards your destination.
Notice the effect of these thoughts on your body and on your emotions.
Now imagining that the engine of the bus or the car in which you're travelling starts to make a strange noise.
Clunk,
Clunk,
Hiss.
It grinds to a halt.
Your first reaction is to say oh no and to ask yourself why me?
Why now?
Notice your thoughts.
Notice your body sensations.
Notice your emotions.
Now press pause.
Ground yourself again.
Take a long,
Deep,
Slow breath in and out and replay.
Ask yourself how am I going to get through this?
What action can I take?
Who can I communicate with?
What help can I get?
Notice any changes in your feelings,
In your body when you consider how to make the best of the situation,
Asking how and what questions.
Imagine what you do and how it feels to take action.
Now imagine arriving at your meeting,
Late but having got there.
Notice your thoughts.
Notice your body sensations.
Notice your emotions.
What was your reaction to that exercise?
What did you notice?
What can you take away from it to use?
