Hello,
Welcome,
Om Bytes.
Today's meditation is entitled,
Take Your Seat,
And is intended for the younger set,
Children of all ages.
This practice of arriving is one that gets us from where we've come to where we are,
Learning to be present,
Transitioning from there to here.
So do come to a comfortable seat.
Relax your hips and press down through your feet.
Lift your heart high,
Breathe in,
And take a long and peaceful breath out.
If you feel safe,
You're welcome to close your eyes or simply cast your gaze downward at something non-moving.
And we'll begin with the sound of the chime and conclude the same way.
And as we sit in our seat,
We set the intention to cultivate stillness in the body and mind.
Imagine you've been riding a merry-go-round,
Around and around and around,
And then you jump off,
Landing in the cool,
Wet grass,
And stop.
Your body is still in motion.
Your mind and your imagination are still swirling.
Using your seat is the practice of transitioning from movement into stillness.
As you sit,
Begin to notice the breath settle.
Notice the in and the out.
Feel your feet on the ground.
Feel your seat in the chair,
Shoulders above hips,
Head over shoulders,
And drop into your seat even more.
Now as we expand our awareness in this transition from movement into stillness,
Bring your curiosity to your senses.
What do you hear?
What do you smell?
Do you taste anything?
Can you see anything when you close your eyes?
And what do you physically feel?
Your toes in your shoes,
The air on your skin,
The clothing on your body.
You'll close with three big breaths.
Inhale fill up with all that you need,
And exhale releasing all the bad stuff.
Inhale full of happiness,
And exhale out all the junk.
Inhale fill up your tummy and your heart,
And exhale release.
Namaste.
