Hello,
Welcome,
Opulent mindfulness.
Today's meditation is entitled,
Peace Within Me,
Peace Around Me.
Peace within me,
Peace around me.
And I know this term gets thrown around a lot.
And it seems,
Oh gosh,
I do have peace,
I'll never have peace,
Where am I on the spectrum of inner peace?
Do I even know what it feels like at all?
How can I possibly get there?
What does it mean if I do?
What does it mean if I don't?
But we know when we've tasted that sweet nectar of peace.
And it's fleeting,
And it's not attainable.
Just simply is an emotional state for a moment in time.
And something to note about inner peace is it is not situational.
Inner peace is that core,
Deep,
Calm blue sea beneath the turbulent weathered waves above,
Pulled by the moon,
Pulled by the shift,
Pulled by a craft traveling on its surface.
But deeper than that,
To the far reaching bellows of the sea,
The depths that are undisturbed,
Yet full of life,
Constant,
Steady,
Cool,
Clear,
And abiding to the laws of nature.
So come to your comfortable seat.
Drop into your body,
Press down,
Take a big belly breath in,
And a long and soothing breath out.
Again,
Release the weight of your body.
Use that weight to drop in,
Press down,
Lift your heart,
Breathe in.
Surrender into stillness,
Exhale.
One more inhale with your awareness.
Release simply.
And with your awareness,
Allow the breath to travel on its own cadence in your subconscious psyche,
Keeping you alive as you dare to live.
How do I know when I've achieved inner peace?
How can I get some?
Where do I get it?
How long will it last?
What will I have to give up to have inner peace?
The opposite of the inner peace is the rat race.
Running and running and going and distracting and staying busy so we can avoid turning inward at all cost.
It's not comfortable to be still.
But when we are practiced at stillness,
We can quickly and easily toggle into it.
Our stillness fitness aptitude is pristine,
Agile,
And accessible.
So the act of staying busy and distracted and reaching into the world for our sense of contentment is that exact thing that is bringing us the disturbances within.
The constant movement reaching,
Trying to acquire these very busy acts perpetuate our disturbance.
Drop into your body,
Tasting the stillness that is only present in so far as you are aware of this particular moment.
Maybe you feel hungry.
Maybe you feel thirsty.
Maybe you feel tired.
Maybe you want something new and shiny.
Acknowledge these sensations and drop into pause,
Training the mind to be still and at peace and push that head right down into your heart space.
Let the contents of your thinking brain dissolve down into your heart space.
Again,
Notice if you have any desires,
Hungers,
Rising up.
Take a big breath in and a long and satisfying breath out.
Trying to relax in the belly space,
Cooling the fires of anxiety,
Softening in the heart space,
Holding the energies of discontentment.
Imagine rocking a crying baby to sleep right there in your heart.
The agitated little baby lives and you rock that baby to sleep and slumber.
Visualize that happening for you.
Taking your time to calm the crying baby,
Rocking it to sleep.
Just when you think the baby is asleep,
The doorbell rings.
Crying ensues.
Agitation,
Flailing arms.
It's okay.
Soothe the baby.
Rock it back to sleep.
Caressing its soft and tender head.
Feeling this within you.
Life is going to throw alarms in our direction all the time.
Soothe and rest the baby so we may address catastrophe from a place of cool,
Calm,
Deep,
Blue sea waters.
Take a big belly breath in and a long and soothing breath out.
Namaste.
