Peaceful Place Visualization Welcome to a gentle guided practice designed to help you create an inner sanctuary of calm and safety.

This meditation can be used at any time to soothe stress,

Regulate emotions or to simply take a mindful pause in your day.

It's also a valuable resourcing tool often used in EMDR for deeper work.

To begin with,

Find a comfortable position whether sitting or lying down.

Allow the chair or surface beneath you to fully support your body and if it feels comfortable to do so,

Gently close your eyes.

Take a slow deep breath in through your nose and exhale gently through your mouth.

Allow your shoulders to drop,

Releasing any tension that might be there.

This is your time,

A moment just for you to invite in a sense of calm and peace.

When you are ready,

Begin to bring to mind a place where you feel completely safe and at ease.

This might be a real place,

Perhaps a favorite spot in nature,

A quiet room or somewhere special that you've visited before.

Or it might be a space from your imagination,

A sanctuary that exists only in your mind's eye.

An image or a scene that brings you a deep sense of relaxation.

Allow yourself to gently arrive in this place.

Let it shape in whatever way it wants to.

Begin to notice the details around you.

What do you see here?

Take in the colors,

Shapes,

Textures.

Perhaps you see trees gently swaying,

Or the warm glow of a sunset,

Shimmering on the water.

Maybe it's candlelight,

Dancing in a cozy room.

Gently bring your awareness to the sounds within this peaceful place.

You might hear birds in the distance,

A soft rhythm of waves,

Or the gentle hush of stillness.

There's no right or wrong,

Just notice what arises for you.

Now begin to feel into the atmosphere around you.

What does the air feel like on your skin?

Is there a gentle breeze?

Perhaps the warmth of the sun,

Or a cool refreshing mist.

Allow this to settle in around you.

Breathe in again,

And notice if there are any scents in the air.

Perhaps the freshness of grass.

The grounding aroma of wood and earth,

Or perhaps a faint familiar fragrance.

Sink in just a little more deeply into this felt sense of presence.

You are safe here.
