This meditation is for healthcare workers to ground and replenish their energy. Healthcare workers do so much for others they often forget to fill their own cups with loving kindness they so freely pour into all those around them. This meditation was originally created for nurses at the 2022 National Magnet Conference and now is on this platform for other healthcare workers to enjoy.

Aloha,

My name is Melanie Naone.

I am a holistic nurse at the Queens Medical Center in Honolulu,

Hawaii and I'll be guiding you through a grounding and replenishing meditation.

Let's begin by closing your eyes,

Getting into a comfortable position,

Feet planted on the ground,

Arms relaxed with your palms face down on your thighs for calming grounding energy and palms facing up for receiving energy.

Imagine yourself sitting at your favorite beach on a clear warm sunny day with your eyes closed.

Let's begin to bring our awareness into the space of the present moment by inhaling deeply through the nose and open mouth exhale gentle sigh release.

Inhale breathe through the nose,

Exhale open mouth gentle sigh release.

With each deep breath in making space for new revitalizing energy and with each gentle exhale softening the body.

With the next big deep breath in,

On the exhale allow your mind to release any thoughts as we bring our awareness to the body now and if your mind wanders that's okay it's completely normal just bring your awareness back to your breath.

This time is just for you now to remember you are important,

You matter,

I see you in all you've given of yourself and your calling to help others and you must take time for yourself now before you can go and serve others.

Inhale breathe a ball of uplifting golden white light up from the bottom of the feet into the ankles,

Calves,

Behind the knees,

Up the thigh muscles allowing your lower body to soften and melt.

Take a deep breath inhale breathe into the hips and the lower spine allowing all the muscles to soften breathing deeply up into the spine and shoulders just noticing any areas of tension and allowing the upper body to release.

Take a deep breath into the top of the head and on the exhale sending that breath down the neck down both arms all the way out through the tips of the fingers.

With the next big deep breath in bring your awareness into the center of your chest your heart center and drop your shoulders down and back breathing in openness lightness loving kindness compassion and aloha for yourself.

On your next big deep breath in fill yourself with all the love you generously pour into your patients colleagues work family friends and imagine all that love coming back to you as a swirl of soft pink and emerald green light pouring into your heart center.

On your next big deep breaths and all that love and compassion to every single cell in your body as bubbles of light remembering your soul's calling in this work that gives your life purpose.

Even on the days you feel exhausted and stressed you have the capacity within to show loving kindness to yourself and to others.

Remember what you do matters what you do makes a difference in the countless lives you touch.

Queen Emma said we on our parts must not forget to show loving kindness in all ways that includes offering yourself a loving kindness you so freely pour into all those around you.

So what small things can you do to better take care of yourself maybe it's getting outdoors for fresh air taking a short break enjoying a sunrise or simply taking more pauses in between patients meetings and tasks to just breathe deeply pause and feel the stillness in your body notice how your body is able to hold space of all thoughts and emotions in stillness.

As we go throughout our day we may experience a wide range of feelings.

Remember this capacity you have within to be still and just be not needing to do fix react all you need to do is just be and breathe.

Sometimes we forget we are human beings not humans doing so create room with each new deep breath to just be.

It will soon be time to bring this journey to a close so let's inhale breathe deeply once again that white golden bubble of light and love all around you sensing your connection to other health care workers taking a pause together.

On your next big deep breath think of something you're grateful for and on the exhale send that gratitude within and all around you is a bubble of light paving the way today in the next few days and the next few weeks remembering to just be.

We will end with a mantra you can just say silently in your mind or repeat out loud with me I am love I am light I am love I am light I am love I am light all the light and love in me honors all of the light and love in you aloha and namaste.

You can stay here for as long as you like and when you are ready to reawaken to the present moment just gently wiggle your fingers toes gently blink your eyes open take a big deep breath stretching the arms up overhead breathe in deeply and exhale gently let the arms back down have a beautiful day

Thank you for this meditation, being in a field where we serve the needs of our patients/clients it reminded me that I am human and I matter. I have to fill my cup before I can fill others ✨
