Transcript
Welcome to the practice of Yoganidra.
Take the next few moments to create a space that feels sacred and safe to rest into.
Create a container of support for your back body.
Layer the top body with a blanket.
Tuck the chin just towards the throat and extend the back of the neck.
Draw the shoulder blades one at a time and towards the spine.
And as the shoulder blades hug the spine,
Each palm turns upward in an openness to receive,
In a willingness to be holy and totally present.
The practice of Yoganidra is done in an awakened and aware state.
While the body rests peacefully,
The mind is undergoing excavation.
Sifting back layer upon layer of self,
Beliefs,
Memories,
Emotions.
All of the stories that have been with us from the time of conception until now.
Rest peacefully through the jaw.
Create space through the mouth.
Relaxing all muscles.
Relieving the body of any tension.
Let the mind release itself from its confines of structure,
Logic,
And reasoning.
And allow it to be expansive,
Creative,
And totally free.
In the last few moments,
If you are experiencing any discomfort,
Arrange yourself,
Create softness,
And then release to the weight of gravity and to the support of the earth and the solidity of ground.
Where you are so completely held in the container that you've created,
An investment in self.
It is here in this moment where we call to the center of the heart the truth of who we are.
In a convicted statement of I am,
Let your sankalpa drop heavily into the center of the heart to be absorbed by each pulse,
Each vibration.
Three times repeat your sankalpa.
I am.
I am.
I am.
Trust in the memory of your heart,
In the vibration of your physical self.
Let your sankalpa go.
Let it become one with the nature of your heart as a remembrance of your wholeness.
Slow down your breath.
Slow down your breath.
Close your eyes.
Let the orb of the eye fall back and the veil of the lid becomes so heavy.
And as the eye falls back,
The inner eye turns on.
And the inner eye guides itself into the right hand and settles into the thumb of the right hand.
And from the thumb of the right hand,
You'll travel this awareness,
This gaze into the index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
Baby finger,
All five fingers together,
Right hand.
And staying with me through the right side body as we move,
Right wrist,
Muscle that wraps the forearm,
Muscle of the upper arm,
Shoulder girdle,
Right breast,
Right lung,
The organs through the right side body,
Hip joint of the right leg,
Big bone of the upper leg,
Smaller bone of the lower leg,
Soul of the right foot,
All five toes.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five.
Whole right side body,
Whole right side body,
Whole right side body.
Let awareness swim through the whole side body,
Energy flowing,
Prana moving.
The inner eye travels over to the left hand,
Left hand thumb.
And from here we stay on the whole left side,
Index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
Baby finger,
Left wrist,
The meat of your forearm,
The muscle of your upper arm,
Left shoulder girdle,
Left breast,
Lung,
Organs through the left side body,
Hip socket,
The muscle of the upper leg,
Muscle of the lower leg,
Soul of your left foot,
All five toes.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five.
Whole left side body,
Breath swimming through the whole left side body,
Whole left side body.
And now we'll start to work our way up the back body and over the front body,
Beginning at the heels,
Calves,
Hamstrings,
Glutes,
Lumbar spine,
Thoracic spine,
Both arms,
The spine,
Cervical spine,
Skull,
Cheeks,
Orbit of the eye,
Cavity of the nose,
The body,
Bottom jaw,
Upper jaw,
Throat,
Clavicles,
Arms,
Rib cage.
Belly,
Pelvic bowl,
Thighs,
Knees,
Lower leg,
Top side of the feet,
The upper leg,
The upper side of the feet,
All 10 toes.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven,
Eight,
Nine,
10,
All 10 toes,
Whole body awareness,
Whole body awareness,
Whole body awareness,
Skin,
Muscle,
And bone,
Fluid,
Heavy,
Warm,
And calm.
From this relaxed body awakens a deeper breath.
As you feel it slowly come in through the nose,
Make it its way down the channel of breath into both lungs.
From both lungs up the channel of breath and out both nostrils,
Breathing slower and longer each breath.
And centered into the length,
The depth,
Whole belly breath,
Whole belly breath,
Whole belly breath,
And you'll begin to watch the nature of your breath as you awaken the witness,
The she who is watching,
Not participating,
The one who is witnessing breath.
Awaken the witness.
See your breath.
See yourself as the one being breathed in total co-creation with the universe.
You are being breathed.
With awareness of breath flowing and the witnesses attention attuned to the breath,
Acknowledge that the breath remains when the awareness flows.
If the awareness flows away from the breath,
The breath still exists,
Moving silently and intelligently through the background with no need for control,
No need for the mind.
You are in a constant state of being breathed.
Release the watching of the breath and come to study into the omniscient inner eye where the inner gaze illuminates from the third eye chakra,
The center of the forehead between mid brow.
Let all of your awareness pool into that powerful place of seeing,
Chitakash.
And there is magic that can be seen through this eye as it sees beyond reasoning,
Beyond logic and what it's been told is right or wrong.
This eye sees through clarity.
It sees through creativity.
There is no restraint.
Allow it to take its place at the center of the forehead.
The all-seeing,
The all-knowing inner eye.
And as you look inward and you look inward into the space of your heart,
What is it there that you see?
If you have turned your gaze back on yourself,
Who are you really?
And how do you have relation with the witness that is always watching?
Are you aware of the watcher?
Are you aware of the inner knowing?
What exists inside the belly?
What emotion is stored there?
And does this emotion have a story,
An anchor to a person,
An anchor to an event?
Does it hold with it trauma?
Can you see what's held there?
Can you feel what you're feeling?
Trusting that the container that you've made for yourself is so safe,
Safe enough to explore in this neutral platform as you've relaxed your body and allowed the brain to move into a slow state of relearning.
An awareness from the inner eye at the center of the forehead.
And as acute as the inner eye is and keen to look inward,
It is also the all-seeing,
All-knowing of outward.
What does the inner eye need you to know about your external environment?
When you look out and away from self,
What is it that you need to know there?
Notice any feelings,
Emotion,
Any images.
Allow the witness to see what comes.
Releasing the expression of outward gaze,
Come back to land in the center point between the mid-brow,
Fall softly into a rhythmic breath and deeply into a heavy body.
And if you feel yourself drifting,
If you feel yourself being pulled into theta,
Call yourself back by awakening the witness once again to the rhythm of your breath and stay tethered to my voice.
Stay in the practice.
I am practicing yoga nidra.
I will not fall asleep.
I will move through a series of rapid visualizations.
Let the creative mind flow,
Keeping analytics and logic and reasoning aside.
See what flows from the inner knowing.
Five black crows across a telephone wire.
Three crows facing east.
Two crows facing west.
An eagle circling overhead.
A busy highway filled with traffic,
People,
Cars,
Trucks,
Equipment.
Noises,
Smells.
Five black crows on a telephone wire.
Three crows facing west.
Two crows facing east.
An eagle circling overhead in a counterclockwise swoop.
Traffic flows the other way.
The world moves.
The wind blows.
The universe emits its energy.
Yellow stubble field.
Blue sky.
Dark rain cloud.
A strong wind.
Solid earth.
A torrential downpour.
A burning forest.
Fleeing creatures.
Fertile soil.
Rebirth.
New life.
And the universal sound.
Walk closer and closer to a fence line.
Sometimes you start to see the fence line.
You'll see that it has three wires strapped across a wooden pole stretching for miles and miles and miles.
And there is no beginning and no end of this separation.
And you are on one side.
And there is a sound coming from the other side.
And you will recognize this as a sound that contains all sounds.
As the sound of OM.
The continual chanting of the universal sound of OM.
And this is the trapping of the mind.
The ego trapped inside of the physical self.
And on the other side of ego exists this connected whole continual being separated by a wooden post and three metal wires.
And a little further down the fence line there is a black shadow that rests atop the post.
Out of curiosity you begin to make your way down a pathway that has already been packed.
It's already been traveled so many times up and down the fence post.
And as you come closer and closer to this shadowy image.
There is a striking connection through the eye of the crow that sits atop the post.
And the crow sits facing north.
And you are visible through his left eye.
And he sees you coming and he stays totally still.
And the crow is a representation of universal law.
And when you look deeply in the eye of a crow.
As he holds himself so steady for you to gaze.
What is it that you would see here?
From the medicine of the crow.
The crow is the keeper of the sacred universal law.
And what is it that his wisdom has for you?
What do you need to know from the crow?
Keep in mind that he could see all.
He can see all aspects of your being from the earth to the heavens.
He bears witness to every piece of you.
And he is transcendent that goes beyond the physical nature.
And some of us may know this as being supernatural.
There's so much wisdom to find through the eye of the crow.
The crow is adept at shape shifting.
Shape shifting its nature to manifest another form.
And isn't that what we're doing here?
Releasing what the ego has created and shape shifting to find our true nature.
And it's here that you recall your sankalpa.
And through the field of rolling omens also rolls your sankalpa.
I am.
Three times roll your sankalpa through the mind space to the center of subconscious.
The depth of your heart.
I am.
I am.
I am.
And you can trust in the crow that whatever shape shifting needs to occur to create this change.
To create the winds of remembering.
That the crow's medicine is within you as you have seen the depths of the crow.
And the holder of universal law.
And the field of rolling omens comes to a silent pause.
And the crow flies away.
And it's now that you remember that you are still.
You are safe.
And you are here against the earth.
Come back to your body.
Come back to your breath.
Come back to your body.
Come back to your breath.
Come back to your body.
Come back to your breath.
And as you arrive and the five sensory self begins to externalize,
You could start to flutter your eyes open.
The practice of yoga nidra is now complete.
Hariyom tat sat.
Hariyom tat sat.
Hariyom tat sat.
Hariyom tat sat.
