Good morning beautiful friends.

Before we get started with our journaling and meditation,

Go ahead and start to make your morning coffee and if you have access to a door or a window I encourage you to open it up and let in some fresh air.

Today I'm gonna lead you through a short meditation followed by a couple of journal prompts.

If you're new to either one of these practices make sure you're taking it slow,

Taking your time and allowing yourself to ease into these practices with a fresh new mindset.

So go ahead and start by taking your morning coffee into your hands,

Maybe sitting on your couch,

On a chair or on the floor and just noticing the warmth of your morning coffee in the mug that you are holding and let that warmth enter into your body through the palms of your hands,

Up the arms,

Into the neck and the head,

All the way down the torso into the tips of the toes.

Take a nice deep breath in.

As you exhale allow the eyes to close or the gaze to soften down at your morning cup of coffee.

Just take notice.

Notice how you're feeling as you sit in stillness today perhaps for the first time all day,

All week and reaffirming to yourself the importance of stillness,

The importance of taking time to slow down,

To be still in a world that rewards productivity.

It is a radical act of self-love to slow down.

As you sit and enjoy this meditation and soon some journal prompts,

Feeling free to take a sip of coffee whenever it feels natural and organic to you.

There's no need to sit completely still or keep the eyes closed completely.

Remember this is your time to be,

To breathe,

Not to do.

When we allow ourselves to be still,

To slow down,

We can finally listen to our inner knowing.

We can finally hear what our minds,

Our bodies,

And our hearts have been craving to tell us.

And if stillness is uncomfortable and the impulse arises to grab your phone,

Your computer,

To start working,

To start doing chores,

Remind yourself that this stillness is space.

It's space for ourselves to be with ourselves.

If we don't nurture our relationship with ourselves,

We have nothing.

Start to notice your breath,

Allowing your inhales and your exhales to draw out a little bit longer.

Continuing with this deep slow breath,

Gently open the eyes,

Set down your coffee,

And grab your journal.

Today I want you to simply reflect on where in your daily routine you can slow down,

You can find space to listen to your inner knowing.

And maybe today that looks like making a list of your daily routine and injecting little moments of mindfulness within that list.

So perhaps waking up three,

Four,

Five minutes early and taking time to lay in bed and just breathe.

Or maybe coming back to this exercise,

Sitting with your warm cup of coffee every morning and just noticing your breath and your energy.

Take about three minutes to reflect on this concept by simply writing.

Take the next few minutes to finish up your thoughts knowing that you can always come back to this exercise and take a moment to notice how perhaps your physical body has changed as you begin to think and brainstorm about your daily routine.

Go ahead and start to set your journal aside,

Grab your warm cup of coffee,

And resettle in.

Take a nice deep breath in through your nose,

Pause at the top of the inhale,

And as you exhale let some of the tension cultivated in the body release.

Taking these moments throughout our day to be still,

To spend time with ourselves are so vitally important for our healing and our growth.

I thank you so much for joining me this morning for this short morning coffee and journal exercise.

I hope to see you back here soon on Insight Timer.

Namaste.

Lovely and I appreciated the emphasis on "be, not do." Even things that don't seem like "do" like closing my eyes, takes me out of being so thank you for that space to just be. 😊❀️
