Begin by settling into your body.
Are they sitting with your spine straight,
Shoulders soft,
Your hands resting where ever you feel natural and normal?
Or perhaps lying down,
With your legs extended long,
Arms resting on your belly or alongside your body?
If you haven't already,
Gently closing down your eyes.
And start to draw your awareness inwards.
Allowing your mind to rest on the gentle rising and falling of your breath.
Allow your breath to flow without any effort or control.
Simply letting your body breathe itself,
And it follows its own natural rhythm.
As best you can,
Allowing your breath to anchor you here in your body.
In the experience of the present moment.
With each inhalation,
Breathing in a sense of kindness,
Tenderness and self compassion.
And with each exhalation,
Letting go of any judgements or self criticisms that might be present.
Simply taking care of yourself with the kindness of your awareness and the gentleness of your breath.
And from this place of stillness and silence,
Just taking a moment to reflect.
Asking yourself,
What do I need right now?
What will fill me back up?
Noticing the answers that arise,
The sense of openness and curiosity.
Simply being aware of whatever comes up.
And then asking yourself,
How can I cut myself some slack right now?
What can I do to take the pressure off myself?
Again allowing yourself to notice the answers that arise,
Without any judgement or criticism.
Letting go of any reactions or resistance that might be present.
As best you can,
Simply allowing your experience to unfold,
Exactly as it is.
And lastly,
Taking a moment to ask yourself,
What do I need to hear right now?
And perhaps offering yourself the words of encouragement and support that you would like to receive from another.
You might like to say to yourself,
It's okay.
You're doing so well.
I understand.
Are there any other words of kindness and support that you need?
Noticing how it feels to offer yourself these sentiments of self-care.
Knowing that you have the power to nourish yourself simply by offering yourself the same care that you endeavour to give to others.
Just allowing yourself to continue to bask in this beautiful energy of kindness,
Compassion and self-care.
