Transcript

Begin by finding a comfortable position either sitting or lying down.

Then allow yourself to settle a little deeper into the comforting embrace of the chair or the bed beneath you.

And then gently close down your eyes allowing your eyelashes to cast a shadow over the apples of your cheeks.

Let your whole body soften and relax.

And just taking a moment to scan through your body from the crown of your head down through your face your neck your shoulders your arms your torso hips legs right down to the tips of your toes.

How is your body feeling?

What are you experiencing?

Notice if you're holding on to any tension or tightness in the muscles the skin and the bones of your body.

As best you can imagining yourself starting to soften and be easy.

There are times in our lives when we find ourselves suffering after a painful experience.

Whether that be a heartbreak,

A loss,

A betrayal or a disappointment.

This practice will help you to surrender and release the painful feelings you've been holding on to.

It will help you let go of wishing things were different.

With gentle awareness,

With strength and courage you learn to accept yourself and your life exactly as it is in the present moment.

You are simply here to surrender and let be.

Notice how it feels in your body to be holding on to this sense of pain or hurt or fear.

Notice how it feels in your body to be able to let go of the pain or hurt or fear.

Notice how it feels in your body to be able to let go of the pain or hurt or fear.

Notice if there's a subtle knot in your stomach.

Perhaps a constriction in your throat.

Maybe there's tightness in your shoulders.

Can you notice the heaviness and tiredness that's associated with these sensations?

Notice how it feels in your body to let go of the pain or hurt or fear.

Can you see how the act of holding on has been draining you?

Draining you of your power,

Your lightness and your joy.

Notice how it feels in your body to let go of the pain or hurt or fear.

Notice how it feels in your body to let go of the pain or hurt or fear.

And see if you can allow your awareness to drop in just a little bit deeper.

Into the place that you've been hiding from.

A place where your hurt,

Your pain,

Your fear resides.

Notice how it feels in your body to let go of the pain or hurt or fear.

And don't be afraid to lean into the felt sensation of these emotions.

Notice how it feels in your body to let go of the pain or hurt or fear.

Without needing to analyze.

Without needing to look for the wound or the reason why.

Just allow yourself to be with whatever it is that you're feeling.

No longer needing to hide from your emotions.

Just allowing yourself to feel.

You do not need to struggle with them.

You do not need to resist.

You do not need to hide from these feelings.

You do not need to be afraid to let go of the pain or hurt or fear.

You do not need to be afraid to let go of the pain or hurt or fear.

Rather than holding on.

Trying to control.

Trying to avoid.

All you have to do is just let yourself feel.

From this place of gentle awareness.

From this place of kindness.

Acceptance.

And compassion.

Start to imagine what it would be like if you no longer held on to these feelings.

Acceptance.

Acceptance.

And that there is freedom and great strength in letting go.

Take a deep breath in.

Acknowledging the weight of the pain that you've been holding on to.

And then breathing out letting go.

Allow yourself to surrender into the freedom of the present moment.

Imagine the weight of the pain that you've been holding on to being lifted from your shoulders.

The heaviness and responsibility of your hurt no longer pressing down.

And then let yourself feel.

And start to realise in this moment that holding on does not serve you.

And that by surrendering into the present moment you allow yourself to move forward.

Realise the freedom.

And the lightness.

The joy.

And the trust that comes from letting go.

And gently repeating to yourself,

I surrender.

I surrender.

I surrender.
