Hello and welcome to this meditation.

In the chaos and busyness of our daily lives,

We often get so caught up in all of our things that we must do the places that we must be the people that need us,

That rely upon us,

That we are constantly in a go go go state of mind and state of body.

In this meditation,

I'm going to invite you to take a few moments and enjoy the peace that can come with simply being still,

If only for a few moments,

Embracing it for all that it can be and enjoying a few quiet moments of stillness.

To begin,

Find a nice quiet place where you can take a comfortable seat or perhaps even lie down.

Come into a nice normal breathing pattern,

Just full breathing but gently and quietly at ease,

Just in and out through your nose.

You can close your eyes or softly gaze in front of you and as you settle in and once you're comfortable,

Give yourself permission to simply be and to do nothing in these next few moments.

Give yourself permission to embrace this moment of stillness in which there's nothing that needs to be done,

No one that needs your attention.

Just stay here still and aware of your breath and watch each breath as an easy,

Relaxed,

And spacious action.

Place a small amount of attention on what else in your mind or your body is feeling.

Notice your own discomfort in simply being present and doing nothing.

Notice if your mind would rather run off towards a to-do list or planning for something for the future.

Notice if your mind would rather be busy with reviewing the past or thinking about something that occurred a few hours ago or a few days ago.

And each time that you notice,

Acknowledge the pull of that movement,

Of that distraction,

And then with the loving patience of a compassionate elder,

Give your mind permission to rest.

Help the mind settle to be at peace,

To be still by guiding towards awareness of your body and your breath.

Without thinking of breath,

Be present with breath.

Without thinking of the body,

Be present with the body.

Feel into breath and body as you let the mind rest back.

Allow for the mind to feel spacious,

Open,

And at ease.

Allow your mind to drop into joy,

To the bliss of no longer needing to do,

The bliss of simply being.

The not doing includes no longer fighting against the movement of the mind,

Of the rising thoughts.

Allow this to simply be.

Chase nothing.

Distraction will arise,

But there is nothing to do.

Notice,

Acknowledge,

And you'll find yourself again in spaciousness of presence with your body and with your breath.

Feel into the preciousness of this moment,

This relative quiet,

This relative stillness.

Recognize its beauty with your whole being,

The freedom in your resting back,

The spaciousness that comes with stillness.

And give yourself permission to stay right here for as long as you like.

There is nowhere to go.

There is nothing to do.

There is nothing more sacred or more worthy than this.

Just watching,

Noticing,

Being present with your body and your breath.

Give yourself permission to be still.

You may feel free to pause this meditation and remain in stillness as long as you'd like,

Or you may begin to bring small movements back into your body,

Bringing more attention to your breath.

And when you're ready,

Slowly opening your eyes,

Perhaps taking a nice big stretch overhead,

And then going back about your day.

Thank you so much for joining me.

I wish you well.
