Hello,
Beautiful souls,
And welcome to this guided meditation where we will practice becoming the witness of our thoughts to create separation between what is known as your ego mind and the part of you which perceives it,
Your pure conscious awareness.
As we begin,
Please find your most comfortable position.
Keeping in mind this meditation is best enjoyed while sitting or laying down.
Hands can rest lightly on your knees or by your sides.
If you're in a safe environment to do so,
I invite you to close your eyes.
Drinking in your first deep inhale,
Witnessing the lungs expand and the cool sensation of the breath on the upper lip as you inhale,
Possibly holding the breath at the top of your inhale for a few moments,
Then exhaling slowly,
Trying to make that exhale twice as long as your inhale.
Once more,
Inhaling,
Lungs expand,
Chest rises,
Holding the breath at the top of the inhale for just a moment,
And then exhaling slowly,
Slowly.
Just focusing on the sound of your breath as you inhale and exhale.
Just breathing like this for a moment.
Simply being present with those sensations and just noticing the flow of the breath through your body.
Now just simply witnessing the sounds around you.
It could be the sound of birds or the AC or a fan.
Just witnessing.
Just noticing any sounds without allowing the mind to label anything as good or bad.
They just simply are.
They just simply exist in this moment.
Now beginning to become aware of your hands and see if you can notice a subtle feeling of energy or aliveness in the hands.
It might feel like a tingling sensation at first or an energy pulsing through them.
Now see if you can expand that awareness to the whole body,
Seeing if you can experience the energetic aliveness which is present throughout the whole body.
Allowing the body to relax and begin to allow yourself to drop fully into the sensations of the body.
Drawing your attention to your arms,
Your chest,
Your abdomen,
Your legs and your feet.
Possibly just noticing where the legs meet the ground beneath you.
If thoughts arise,
Just noticing those thoughts without judgment.
Just allowing them to be there and see if you can become conscious of the part of you that is aware of your thoughts,
The part of you which is perceiving your thoughts.
Now begin to focus your attention on the silent spaces which lie between each thought and the pure consciousness which is present and witnessing those thoughts unfold.
Becoming very curious about the silences in between those thoughts and who is perceiving them.
Becoming curious about who and what is aware.
Being very curious about the part of you that continues to be fully conscious and aware even when those thoughts aren't present.
Realizing that this consciousness,
The part of you who is witnessing your thoughts,
This is who you truly are.
Just sinking deeper into that pure awareness.
If thoughts arise,
Just notice them without judgment.
You may begin to experience a deep sense of joy and calm as you sink deeper and deeper into this awareness.
Deeper and more fully alive and aware of the part of you that is witnessing your thoughts.
You may even experience a deep sense of peace and knowingness in this awareness.
This pure awareness has no name.
It just simply is.
It has always existed and will always continue to exist.
See if you can keep your pure attention on the part of you which perceives your thoughts.
The voiceless pure consciousness who is witnessing this moment unfold.
Thoughts may come back in or even emotions about this moment.
Just watching those thoughts or those sensations without judgment,
Without trying to change anything.
Just continuing to sit as the witness to those thoughts,
Emotions,
And sensations of the body.
As you practice sitting as the witness of your thoughts,
You may perceive a beautiful feeling of connectedness to all things,
An energy that connects us all to everything around us,
An I am presence.
And if the mind wanders,
Just gently guiding it back to this I am presence.
You'll notice as you sit in this pure consciousness that you're still perceiving the world,
Only now more crisply and more attuned to everything that is.
I invite you now to picture your body from above,
From the perspective of your higher self,
Just witnessing the body,
Witnessing the emotions,
But knowing you are not actually those things.
Seeing yourself as the bright light of pure conscious awareness which is occupying the body.
Knowing that you are not your mind,
You are not your thoughts,
You are the one perceiving those things.
Sitting in this awareness fully,
Sitting in this feeling of peace that comes and the feeling of surrendering to this truth and to this moment.
And the mind will always come back in.
That's okay.
It's still a part of us,
A tool.
Peace comes in knowing that there is the one who speaks,
The ego mind,
And the one who hears or perceives it speaking,
Your pure conscious awareness.
You are the pure consciousness or soul or entity who is separate from your thinking mind and which is occupying your body.
You are not your emotions,
You are not your personality or the characters that we have crafted from our life experiences.
You are the pure consciousness who is witnessing those things.
You are not the voice in your head.
You are the soul who perceives that voice.
And just experiencing sitting in the joy of that awareness,
The gift of pure awareness that can be enjoyed in any moment.
As we end this meditation,
See if you can continue to sit in the sensations of the body and the pure conscious awareness which is available to you always.
May you be healthy.
May you be well.
May you be at ease.
Namaste.
