It's the middle of the night and you're awake.
That's fine.
Sometimes it happens.
There may be some release of tension in your system going on that's so strong that it woke you up.
Know that it's a good thing that your body is throwing off stress and tension.
It could be that there's some very strong emotions present now.
Simply allow them to be there.
By being fully present,
Eventually they'll become less intense and dissolve.
If there's strong emotions,
Let yourself feel them in your body.
Feel them as bodily sensations.
It's natural if you're feeling emotional that your mind will start to try to explain it and try to do something about it.
But it's the middle of the night.
Something can get blown out of proportion and your mind can misinterpret things.
Just know that that's going on.
This is just the time for rest.
Simply be present to whatever is going on,
Not trying to do anything about it.
After some time it will just naturally subside.
And when you let go of effort,
It's restful for your system.
So even if you're awake,
Know that your body's getting deep rest.
Now is the time to not believe the stories of your mind.
Never a strong thought comes up.
Allow your awareness to go to your body,
To an emotion,
To a sensation in your body.
You can let go of the thoughts and have an easy focus on your body or on your breath.
If you'd like to,
You can bring your attention to your breathing,
Easily noticing the in and out of the breath and letting go of whatever else is happening.
See effortless awareness of the breath.
If there's anxiety present or some strong emotion,
Allow it to be there.
Just easily favor the experience of breathing.
If it helps,
You can take a nice deep breath.
Remember that everything will seem different in the light of day.
All of this will seem like a dream.
You may not even remember what you were thinking about.
Simply continue with an easy,
Open awareness of the breath.
