Transcript
We often get very disconnected from nature,
Disconnected from the earth of which we're apart.
So this meditation will help us to connect to nature and to be nourished by the qualities of nature.
It wakes up the natural intelligence in our own body.
In this meditation when I ask you to bring some aspect of nature to your awareness,
Just allow that to come any way it comes.
It may come visually,
Or you may hear or smell,
Or just have some sense of something.
Let it come however it does.
Don't strain to have any particular kind of experience.
You can do this meditation either sitting or lying down.
Find a comfortable position and close your eyes.
Bring your awareness to your breath.
Notice the in and out of the breath.
Notice how it feels as your body moves with the breath.
We breathe the air and the atmosphere that surrounds our earth.
Just experiencing breathing.
Just experiencing breathing.
Just experiencing breathing.
Experiencing the movements in the body as it breathes.
Feeling the density of the body,
The weight of the body as it sits on the chair or as it's lying down.
Held to the earth by gravity,
Sinking into that.
Our body is of the earth.
The elements,
The minerals,
The waters of the earth compose our body.
Having a sense of the earth,
Whatever that is for you,
How do you sense the earth?
Let any colors or sounds or sights come into your awareness.
Feeling that quality of earth and feeling that in your body.
Feel your body as earth.
However you may be sensing the earth,
Allow those qualities,
That feeling to come into your body.
And as we do this meditation,
It doesn't matter if there are thoughts coming and going.
Just let that happen,
Not minding what's going on and bringing your awareness back to the meditation if the mind has wandered.
You can be sensing the body,
Sensing the earth at the same time that thoughts are going on.
And now allowing the water of the earth to come into your awareness.
Perhaps you'll see it,
Some image of water on the earth,
In the earth.
It could be rain,
It could be a stream,
It could be anything.
You may see it,
Feel it,
Just sense the quality of water,
However it comes.
Let yourself experience water fully.
You can experience that water on your skin,
However that comes,
Maybe the rain falling on you or you're swimming in the ocean.
Just some feeling of the water as it cleanses and bathes.
Perhaps you drink the water,
Let the water nourish you,
Support you.
Let your body take in that water and its life-giving properties.
Feel that movement of water in your body,
Part of your circulation,
All the fluids in your body,
Let them be refreshed with this water.
So taking a little time now to experience water in all the ways you might want to.
Good,
And now let's come back again to that experience of the earth.
And this time let yourself feel earth,
Feel the soil on your feet,
In your hands.
Perhaps you'll feel it warmed by the sun.
Let that earth be just how you want it to be,
Just the right temperature,
Nice and clean,
Feeling that element of earth,
Feeling it under your feet,
In your hands,
However you'd like to feel it.
Feeling again the weight of your body,
Recognizing it as earth,
As one with the earth.
And now allow the plants and the vegetation of the earth to come into your awareness.
You may see them,
Feel them,
Get some sense of them.
And what quality comes into your life as you think of the plants,
Flowers,
Trees,
Whatever comes.
Experiencing their colors,
Experiencing their qualities,
The life in them.
And now spending some time with the feelings or the images or even the sounds,
Smells of plants,
However you'd like to do that.
And let all that come into you,
Into your body,
Into your spirit.
You might even feel them with your hands,
Letting yourself become very close,
Connected with the vegetation of the earth.
And now bringing your awareness to light,
To the light of the sun.
To the light of the sun,
The stars,
The moon.
Feeling the quality of light that comes from the sun,
The warmth,
Letting that sun illuminate everything.
Letting that feeling of the sun permeate your whole body,
Every cell of your body,
Charged and nourished by light.
And if your body is craving coolness,
Perhaps you'll want to feel or see or be in the light of the moon and the stars.
Experiencing light,
Letting your body absorb that light,
Drink up that light.
And bringing your awareness again to the earth,
The weight of the body,
Physicality of the body,
The pull of the earth on the body,
Feeling your feet in the earth,
Feeling yourself connected.
Feeling very much in the body.
Now you can continue on your own with this for a while if you'd like.
And whenever you want to end the meditation,
Bring your awareness to your body,
Feel the physicality of the body,
The weight of the body.
Start to stretch and move and then just gradually when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
