Hello and welcome to today's meditation.
It's funny because I feel like I sat down to almost in a way rush into recording this because I was so excited but the theme is in itself that we don't need to rush.
That feeling when the world is moving and we feel like we need to get everything done right now.
So in a sense this is going to be a practice on patience,
Practice on presence,
Really a practice on living in the moment.
So I invite you to find your comfortable space to find a position that you can sit in for the next little bit here.
Getting comfortable,
Maybe that's sitting up today,
Maybe that's laying down,
Whatever it is,
Just finding your comfort.
Finding your breath and starting to notice how your body feels.
Noticing your legs,
Your arms,
Your torso,
And even noticing your head.
The little muscles and tendons that move through your face,
Your scalp,
Just letting everything really melt into this present moment.
Sometimes we might have an idea that we then rush off to action immediately or sometimes we feel like we need to talk to this person right now about this topic.
Most of the time it's not actually as pressing as it is needed.
Most of the time we can actually take a moment,
We can pause,
And then we can come back to it.
This little insert of break and pause can really help us understand what is going on within ourselves.
That moment before an action where we can dive in and think about why do we want to do this.
Taking that breath,
Letting it fill into your body,
Maybe noticing how your ribs and body moves sideways,
Maybe even paying attention to your back.
Even in your lower back you can fill up as you breathe in.
When we are rushing,
When we are wanting to just move move move and hustle,
Why are we doing this?
What is the reason that we feel so much pressure to act right now?
What is the reason that you're rushing?
It's okay if your mind just went to go answer that,
But I invite you to let go of that answer today.
To just notice that if you did have an answer pop into your mind,
That probably means that you have rushed.
That probably means you have done something,
Maybe not in haste,
But you've done something quicker than maybe it was needed.
So acknowledging that,
Acknowledging that you have the power to pause.
So now coming into the present moment,
Noticing your body,
Noticing if your mind wanders off,
Noticing where it's gone,
But then that awareness that it's going somewhere,
Bringing it back.
You drift off and bring the awareness back to now.
Back to something as simple as your breath or as simple as the fabric against your skin or the floor underneath your feet or the seat under your legs.
Continuing to breathe.
In this present moment,
You are taking time for yourself.
You are taking time to slow down.
This slow down is a beautiful thing.
Before I leave you today,
I'll leave you with some affirmations.
We'll start today with,
I am here and now.
There is nothing I need in this moment.
I am here and now.
My breath brings me back into the present.
There is nothing I need right now.
I am fully present.
My breath brings me back into the here and now.
I am fully present.
My breath brings me to the here and now.
There is nothing I need in this moment.
I thank you for joining me in this practice today,
For taking a moment for yourself,
For being in the now,
And for deciding to intentionally slow down and not rush into whatever else you have going on in your life.
If you'd like to leave and get back,
That is totally fine.
However,
I will leave a couple more minutes of silence and then end it with a bell.
As always,
From my heart to yours,
Thank you.
