Transcript
Hi there and welcome to today's meditation which is going to be focused on trust,
Trust in yourself,
Decisions.
I like to think about decision-making and trust in yourself going really hand-in-hand here.
Whenever we are at the middle of a road and we have a decision to make whether that's one decision or another or many different options in front of us,
At the end of the day I believe that coming back to trusting yourself and knowing that at the end of the day you're gonna be okay and you can trust yourself really helps in these moments of decision-making.
So taking a deep breath in here really starting to settle into whatever space that you're in.
Taking another deep full breath,
Maybe adding a second more on the inhale and a second or two more on the exhale.
Starting to lengthen our breaths out,
Starting to sink in to whatever seat we're in,
Relaxing down our legs,
Our feet,
Softening our hips,
Softening the stomach,
The core and lengthening up through your spine.
Relaxing down the shoulders knowing there's nothing we have to hold up right now.
Continuing that relaxation down through the arms,
Letting the elbows hang and your hands either fall in your lap or next to you today.
I'm going to invite you to have your hands face down as an opportunity to ground back to yourself,
To connect to yourself,
To feel that energy that moves between your hands and your body.
Continuing up through our neck,
Maybe bringing it backwards in alignment with our spine just a little bit here and then intentionally unclenching that jaw.
Your jaw holds a lot of tension and a lot of the times we don't even know we're clenching it.
Maybe move it around a little bit from side to side,
Whatever feels comfortable for you today.
And then if you haven't shut down your eyes already,
Now's the time to do so.
Letting your eyelids really gently,
Softly close over your eyes,
Letting that softness expand across the rest of your face.
Softening in your cheeks,
Softening your nose,
Letting your lips get soft and even letting the space between your eyebrows and your forehead just soften and let every last bit of tension drip away here.
Knowing that whatever position you find yourself in,
That's the position that you're meant to be in today.
Taking another deep breath in for four,
Three,
Two,
One,
And letting it all go,
Sinking even deeper into that seat.
Maybe you're laying down and you feel yourself sinking even deeper into the surface you're on if you're sitting up.
Maybe you feel your legs grow even heavier,
Feel your spine stretch even further up,
Continuing to breathe and letting your body soften.
Taking another deep breath in,
Filling your body up,
Filling maybe that ribcage,
The sides of your ribs or stomach you feel expanding outwards.
Filling up into areas of yourself that you haven't given any attention recently.
Now starting to bring your attention to a decision that you have to make.
Maybe one that you've been pushing off because you don't want to think about it or maybe one that you're excited to make but you want to take another moment in stillness and in presence just to revisit it.
Taking a moment to play out what that decision is what is the thing that you think you need to do here.
Noticing what the decision is that you think you need to make.
Now imagine that you fast forward your life into the future.
You fast forwarded it with this decision and you look around.
Notice how your life is.
Notice what it feels like.
I'm going to give you a couple moments here to just observe.
Playing it out.
Observing the situation based off of the first option that you've chosen.
Now coming back to yourself.
Coming back to yourself for just a moment here.
Noticing your physical body.
Noticing the person you are.
Now imagining the other decision that you could make.
Once again fast forwarding into the future and letting it play out.
Observing how this feels.
Trying not to compare one versus the other but just noticing non-judgmentally.
Noticing what this feels like.
Looking around.
Noticing the people or the situation.
What might have changed.
I'm going to give you a couple moments here to fully observe.
To feel what comes up.
I'll guide you back with my voice in just a couple moments.
Taking one last look around.
Now coming back to yourself right now.
Knowing that you are safe.
Knowing that no matter what happens you are your biggest support and that you can trust yourself.
Remembering that you're still here and you are safe wherever you're at.
No decisions were made and now we're back in this present moment.
I'd like you to remind yourself that you can trust yourself.
That maybe a decision versus another feels better but this isn't an either this or that moment.
Really the thing that we can focus on here is that no matter what you'll be okay.
No matter what you will be your own support and you can trust yourself.
Knowing that regardless of the scenario or the situation you have your own back.
We're going to do a couple affirmations or mantra repetitions that you can say out loud if you're comfortable or you can repeat them to yourself in your mind.
Starting with I trust myself.
I believe I can handle whatever I face.
I have my back.
Again I trust myself.
I believe I can handle whatever I face.
I have my back.
And then if there's anything else you want to remind yourself of that lets you know this trust in yourself please share it with yourself.
And if nothing comes to your mind I'll share with you mine today which is even the things that I think I can control I know I can't.
Taking a moment here starting to wake up your body just a little bit.
If you have space reaching your arms up over your head taking a really nice stretch of the body here and then a little different than normal let's bring our arms back down and wrap our arms around ourself as if we're giving ourselves a hug.
As you feel this feeling of your arms wrapping around yourself knowing that this is you holding yourself.
You are supporting yourself.
You've actually released some oxytocin into your brain by giving yourself a hug.
Once again reminding yourself you've got your back.
Reminding yourself no matter what happens no matter what decision you make at the end of the day you've got yourself.
Giving yourself one last squeeze here in your hug and then letting your arms fall and your hands come over your heart.
Feeling that heat or that cold transfer between your hands and your chest.
As always I thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to meditate with me to sit with me and even more I thank you and I hope you thank yourself for taking the time to focus on yourself.
As always from my heart to yours thank you so much and I hope you have a great rest of your day.
Thank you.

I added an ambient sound track of birds to this meditation. It made it special. I appreciate the idea of decision making struggles perhaps linked to not feeling safe. Sage of an outcome, etc. Thank you for this meditation.
