Everyone has a rough day every once and a while - this is not something we can avoid. How we treat ourselves and what we do to recover can help us influence what happens after the hard day. This is for anyone to listen to after your hard day as you wind down and get ready to rest. Feel free to come back and listen to this as often as you need.

After a hard day.

After a hard day,

What do you do?

We all have them.

Do you do something to distract yourself?

Do you sit in silence?

Do you reflect on why it was hard?

Today I invite you,

If it was a hard day,

First find your seat.

Find your space.

Find a comfortable position.

Let your body relax here.

Your day is done.

Letting your stomach become soft.

Your legs flail in whatever position you want them to.

Your arms hang heavy.

Your shoulders relaxed.

Your jaw and face relaxed.

Your eyes gently shut or at a low gaze.

Now that the day is over and you found your seat,

You found your space,

You're safe,

You're grounded,

You're secure,

Take a big breath.

Take another breath and let all of it out.

Maybe make a sound.

Do what you need.

For me,

Today was a hard day.

I took a lap.

I breathed.

I listened to music.

I distracted.

What I needed when I got home and I finally had a moment to myself was to sit.

Sit and notice.

Where do you feel the hard day?

Do you feel it in your stomach?

Is it in your chest?

Feel your body.

And if your mind is racing and wandering,

Once again start at your feet.

Work up through your legs,

Your stomach,

Your chest,

Your shoulders.

Where do you feel your day?

If you found the spot directing your attention there,

Your breath there,

Each breath in,

Breathing to that area,

That soreness,

That tightness,

Maybe the heaviness.

Breath after breath,

Breathing into that area.

I ask you,

What is it that you need?

What is it that is important?

Wherever your mind goes,

Let it.

And if you feel lost,

Coming back to your body,

Coming back to your breath,

Coming back to yourself,

Letting go of whatever it was that pushed you today.

Letting go of whatever it was that made you decide today was a hard day.

Chances are you don't need that.

I'd like to remind you that tomorrow will be a new day.

No matter what happened,

We start all over again.

Or I like to think we build off of the day before.

But if my day before was particularly hard,

Tomorrow's a brand new one.

I get to come at it with new energy,

Come at it with a restful mind.

All of the cloudiness from the night before magically gone.

I set an intention for myself and I invite you to do so for yourself right now.

That tomorrow will be different.

At a baseline,

Since it is a completely different day,

It already is going to be different.

But tomorrow is gonna make me feel different.

Repeating,

Tomorrow I will feel different.

Even if you are not excited for tomorrow,

I invite you to bring a smile to your face.

This releases chemicals into your brain that actually help make you feel just a little better.

Taking your arms and if you're comfortable,

Wrapping them around yourself as if you're giving yourself a hug.

This comfort,

This energy that you're wrapping yourself in,

Helping you make tomorrow a different day.

Wherever you're off to next,

I invite you to remind yourself that at any moment you can give yourself a hug.

At any moment you can come back to what's important.

Feel for your body.

Count up to ten.

Whatever you need.

I leave you with this mantra of even on hard days I can still find a moment for myself.

Thank you so much for ending your day with me or for having the awareness to know you need a moment for yourself.

I thank you from my heart to yours.

Thank you.

It was what I needed after a hard day. To breathe and ground a moment for me.
