This is tapping for parents and children,
A tapping exercise for the parents to do along with their children.
So we'll start off with what is tapping and how does it work.
So tapping is also known as EFT,
Which stands for emotional freedom techniques.
Tapping is very similar to acupuncture.
If you're familiar with acupuncture,
They use needles.
But in this case,
We're just using the tips of our fingers to lightly tap the points on the face and the upper body that can relieve tension and stress.
When I'm teaching tapping in my mindfulness for kids classes,
I explain them as calming buttons on the body.
So we have these imaginary buttons on these certain parts of our body that when you tap on that button,
It makes you calm and relaxed.
And so it's for relieving any tension and stress instead of,
Like I said,
Instead of using needles,
We are using our fingertips.
So you can do this anytime.
That's the nice part about it.
So if you're a parent with your child,
Just find somewhere comfortable to sit.
You can sit crisscross applesauce or sit on a chair or on the couch.
You just really want to be comfortable.
When we tap,
We want to use our index finger and our middle finger kind of put together and use those fingers to just do the gentle tapping.
And it's just very gentle.
And so those are the two fingers that we're going to use for the tapping.
And so we're going to start the tapping on the crown of the head or the very top of the head.
And so you just want to do about 10 taps with the two fingers on the very top of the head.
So we're just going to do the tapping on the crown of the head or the very top of the head.
Okay,
Then for this one,
We just are going to use one hand,
Just like we used one hand for the top of the head,
The crown,
We're going to use one hand and the two fingers for the area that they call the third eye.
So it's kind of between the eyebrows,
But just up a little bit.
And so you just do about 10 little taps right there in the third eye area or the area that's just between the eyebrows,
But you just move up just about half an inch and you do just about 10 little taps there.
Now for the next tapping area,
We're going to need both hands because we're going to do the sides of the eyes.
And so parents kind of like where we would have our,
Our crow's feet wrinkles is right around that area.
So the sides of the eyes and using both hands,
One on each side and just doing about 10 little taps on the sides of the eyes and then going right underneath the eyes.
So moving using two hands to tap just the underneath of the eyes using both hands and just those two fingers for about 10 taps.
Then we just go back to using one hand and tapping just beneath the nostrils.
So just about 10 little taps,
Gentle taps right below the nostrils.
And then next we just use one hand to gently tap the area just above the chin and just below your lower lip.
Sometimes there's a little crease there where the lower lip ends and the chin begins.
And so you just want to do five,
Well,
I'm sorry,
10 little taps in that kind of chin area right there.
So next we're using two hands because we're going to do the taps on either side of our collarbones.
And so you can feel the collarbone and there's a left collarbone and a right collarbone.
So we want to do the tapping,
10 taps,
Gentle taps using both hands on either collarbone.
Then after we have done about 10 taps on the collarbone,
What I do is I kind of cross my arms because we want to get to the underarms,
The pits,
The armpits.
So I cross my,
My right hand will go to my left armpit.
My left hand will go to my right armpit and just tapping the lower part of the armpit and just doing some gentle tapping,
10 little taps right there.
And then the last area that we are going to tap is the side of the hand.
So look at your hand and see where your pinky is.
So you're looking at the palm of your hand and you're seeing your pinky.
So you move down to that little padded part of your hand.
So let's say I'm looking at my right hand,
I'm looking at my pinky,
I'm moving down to that little padded part and I'm just tapping using my left hand to tap,
Tap,
Tap on that little padded part of my right hand.
So now we want to do the same thing on the left side.
So now I'm looking at my left hand and I got my pinky moving down to that little padded part,
Kind of like that part where you're going to do like the karate chop,
You know.
And so you just use the two fingers on your right hand to do a little tap,
Tap,
Tap on that little padding part of your hand.
And this can be done as many times a day as you'd like.
Like I said before,
It's very good for relieving tension and stress for adults and kids.
A fun way to describe it for kids is you're,
You're tapping on your calming buttons and it can be done before bed or first thing in the morning,
Really any time.
It's fun to do this together as a family,
The parent with the child and the parent with the children.
Just something fun to do,
Something relaxing to do and allow kids to feel supported in their journey of tapping.
So thank you for listening to the parent child tapping and enjoy the rest of your day or evening.
