Welcome to this week's resilience meditation to help you nourish your source so that you can give more to your life from a renewed place.
Today's topic is returning to the source,
Finding our flow.
So let's start right in with our meditation.
Find your comfortable position,
One where you can sit or lie down or try walking if you have this on your headphones.
And allow yourself to find an open and receptive position.
Perhaps that means letting your hands rest with palms facing up.
Just cultivating,
Even in your body posture,
A sense of receptivity to what is occurring.
And if it feels comfortable,
To just gently close your eyes to let yourself screen out the visual world with all of its distractions.
And begin to tune into the inner world and all that we can find therein.
Gently soften your eyelids.
Soften the space around your eyes.
Letting go,
Each breath,
Each exhale becomes a place of allowing ourselves to let go.
So that we can more easily be open to the flow of this new present moment.
When we cultivate this open and receptive presence,
We can more easily draw our mind down out of the narrow thoughts it's pursuing.
Or maybe the synthesizing thoughts.
We don't need to judge our thoughts.
And of course sometimes thoughts can be very important.
But often times they become the center of our focus.
And we lose touch with our ability to be present in this more open and receptive way to what is happening all around us and inside of us in each moment.
Allowing your awareness to tune into the sound of the flow of water.
This flow which is always changing from moment to moment.
And yet,
It is the same flow without beginning or end.
In the same way I invite you to tune into the flow of your breath.
This continual inhale and exhale that has been the through line through your life.
This most intimate connection to life itself.
This breath.
This spirit.
This place of sacred presence.
That you're allowing your breath to emanate and be received back into your heart.
Bringing mind and heart together in this very powerful way.
Letting the mind,
Which is often so busy with so many distractions of the world.
So many thoughts.
Thoughts which can often stir up so many intense emotions of anger,
Of anxiety.
Can we just let the mind rest and feel nourished by its source.
Letting the mind come back into the source of the breath.
The source in the body and the spirit.
Can we cultivate the same open receptiveness of mind.
The same open receptiveness in our body posture,
In our hands which are open to the energy of this moment.
Can we cultivate that open receptiveness in our heart,
Breath by breath.
Exhaling and inviting a softening in the heart.
A letting go.
So that it can be more present,
More alive to receive this new moment and whatever it brings.
Whenever your mind drifts away,
Which it is apt to do,
It is so conditioned to do and it is the activity of the mind.
We don't judge it.
We just notice that it's not the only one in charge.
It doesn't have to be the boss of our moment by moment.
We can become empowered to re-relax the mind open.
Let it drop back down.
Let it settle back into the source of this breath,
This life.
The life that's happening all around you.
The life that's happening within you.
This breath,
This spirit connects us with the source.
This web of interconnectedness of breath and life.
Perhaps it's a place of prayer for you.
Heart centering prayer.
Perhaps it's a place of tuning into what you value.
Heart centered values.
What is really important in your life that you can discover when you allow yourself to be more present.
What is the through line in your life?
What carries through?
Each breath a gift to connect us back into our source.
No matter where the mind has been,
You can ride the waves of this new breath and settle back into this deeper knowing,
This deeper way of being.
This is from the Tao Te Ching.
With it we'll close this meditation practice.
Empty your mind of all thoughts.
Let your heart be at peace.
Watch the turmoil of beings,
But contemplate their return.
Each separate being in the universe returns to the common source.
Returning to the source is serenity.
If you don't realize the source,
You stumble in confusion and sorrow.
When you realize where you come from,
You naturally become tolerant,
Disinterested,
Amused,
Kind hearted as a grandmother,
Dignified as a king.
Immersed in the wonder of the Tao,
You can deal with whatever life brings you.
And when death comes,
You are ready.
So with that,
Life,
Death,
Inhale and exhale.
Tune into the magic of this present moment.
Connect with your source so that you can walk through life with a sense of replenishment,
Renewal,
Resilience.
I look forward to connecting with you in this space next week.
Be well,
One breath at a time.
Bye.
