Sacral Chakra governs the water element; so, our kidneys, bladder, and being in the pelvic cradle, also our reproductive glands. "Svadhisthana" means "place of the self" and it's the seat of self-care, creative sensuality, ease, enjoyment, and flow. When we accept and celebrate ourselves at the level of feelings, we come into the "inner child" of 6 months - 2 years. Beautiful guitar by Raul introduces and completes this deeply relaxing Yoga Nidra Meditation that allows us to embrace flow & glow.

Transcript

Welcome to this sacral chakra balancing meditation that will make use of a couple of breathing techniques,

Pranayamas,

And some imagery and affirmations to help bring a release and an ease to that second chakra,

Which just means wheel of energy,

The second of seven wheels of energy aligned along all of our spines.

This second,

Also called the sacral chakra,

Because it is located right in front of our sacrum,

In our hips and in our pelvis,

It is pivotal to our sense of physical enjoyment in our physical body.

And so sensual enjoyment in the sense of our five senses of smell and taste,

Touch and hearing,

And sight,

All of those senses in our being,

Including creativity,

Physical,

Biological creativity,

And also our emotional creativity,

Our ability to be fully who and where we are in our feelings.

And so to begin today in your meditation,

Find a very comfortable place for your spine to be upright or reclined,

But supported in a comfortable,

Unkinked,

Unbowed way.

If you are seated,

You might have something behind your back,

A wall or a tall bolster,

Straight back chair with a cushion.

And if you are reclined or seated,

You may make use of whatever cushions under your hips or knees or back,

Allow you to be able to let go of any distraction or tension in your body posture.

And begin by allowing your shoulders to relax,

Your arms and your hands to comfortably rest,

Either on your body or beside you.

And I invite you to imagine yourself now somewhere in nature,

Near or beside a body of water that to you brings both peace and power into your consciousness.

And allow the sense of that body of natural water with its ebb and flow,

Its ease,

Grace,

And current,

To evoke for you a sense of your own eternal flow,

Our own feelings and sensations that ebb through us,

That arise in us and flow back out.

And you may already be noticing that your breathing is slowing and gentling,

As though your breath were itself currents of natural water,

Just as your heartbeat is a natural rhythm,

No rush and no pause.

And you can have the sensation of that place in nature,

The sound and the sense of the place where you can feel here,

The water element all around you.

Our sacral chakra governs the bladder and the kidneys and is connected to our reproductive glands as well.

So the water element is very much a part of the sense of ease and flow right around our hips,

Our pelvis,

Our low back,

Our very low belly.

And as you relax here now,

We're going to begin a sunset pranayama that is adapted from a balancing sunrise pranayama,

Particularly to evoke the more relaxed and sensual feelings of a beautiful sunset for our sacral chakra.

So I'd like you now to imagine that you are inhaling in from the horizon this beautiful deep sunset indigo blue.

Hold your breath in and allow sunset coral,

Orange,

Rose to flood through your body.

And then when you exhale through softly parted lips,

You are exhaling a sunset orange glow all around.

Once again,

Inhaling through nose,

Sunset blue,

Cobalt,

Indigo,

Hold in sunset rose coral throughout the body.

And when you're ready to exhale softly through lips,

Allow an orange,

A sunset vibrant orange to enclose your body as though in an egg shape of orange vibrancy.

Give yourself a few more inhaling through nose,

Sunset indigo cobalt blue holding in a sunset rose magenta fuchsia.

An exhaling gorgeous sunset flame saffron orange in an egg shape.

Two more in from the horizon holding,

Washing the body with rose out,

Sitting inside that orange egg shape last one in beautiful horizon blue,

Holding beautiful sunset rose and washing out glorious sunset orange.

Yeah,

Lovely.

And notice your senses more vibrant and alive,

Your skin and the hairs on your skin tingling with the feel of the flow,

The breeze,

The water,

Your senses of hearing alive,

Your sense of taste,

Taste buds inside of your mouth alive,

Along with your sense of scent and smell.

And now let us invoke a second sacral chakra,

Enlivening breath pranayama.

And you just explore discover which is your favorite that you might wish to return to during your week,

Whenever you want to awaken your sacral chakra.

This is called a moon breath,

Chandra badhana.

Chandra means moon in Sanskrit.

So let us inhale through both nostrils and exhale through both nostrils just to clear everything out.

And then inhale through your left nostril as much as you can,

Imagining it is just coming in the left,

And exhale through the right as much as you can.

Continue once again,

Inhale through the left and exhale through the right.

Continue just like this,

Deliberately inhaling through the left nostril.

That wakes up our right brain,

The more feminine lunar brain.

Exhaling out the right and continue just this direction.

Inhaling left nostril,

Sweeping it throughout the right.

We've been doing it just energetically.

If it appeals to you to try physically aiding this with your right hand,

Thumb and ring finger,

Go ahead and apply them to your nostrils so that you can close off your right nostril with your thumb to inhale through the left.

And switch,

Close off your left nostril to exhale through the right.

If you wish to use the hand,

Try this method a few rounds.

It is a more complete control of the in and the out.

And it might have the added benefit of dislodging any mucus in your nostrils.

So if that is the case,

Feel free to grab a tissue and just take advantage of that opportunity to clear your nostrils and then go right back to inhaling through the left.

Nice and long and slow.

Exhaling out the right.

We're changing our brain hemisphere dominance with this moon breath.

Continue to do this with or without the hand,

Whichever way you prefer.

The inhale through the left nostril really wakes up our right brain.

Think of it as a white color and cool,

Our intuitive,

Imaginative feminine lunar brain sending it out the right.

Our two brain hemispheres have been mapped to have very different and specific functions.

So this moon breath is deliberately making our right brain more dominant.

This is our sensory,

Our feeling,

Our motion,

Our kinesthetic,

Our dancing,

Moving,

Instinctive,

Our drawing,

Our creative,

Our artistic brain hemisphere.

Go ahead and sweep that chandrapadana moon breath just anywhere from two to five more rounds.

See if it softens in your body as we move into what we call,

Think of as the artist's brain.

The less verbal,

The more physical,

The more emotional,

The more meditative brain.

Chandrapadana moon breath in through left nostril and out the right.

It might be disorienting.

Many of us live most of our day more in our left brain.

So that's okay if it's a disorienting.

It means that you know you are feeling the shift.

You know you are experiencing the effects and let that go.

Lovely,

Beautiful.

And let's go back to three rounds of our sunset pranayama just to see if our body and mind and emotions remember that.

From the horizon inhaling a beautiful deep sunset blue holding in gorgeous sunset rose fuchsia in your body and releasing sunset orange all around you particularly around the hips,

Pelvis,

Two more rounds.

Inhaling through the nose your most beautiful deep sunset blue.

Allowing sunset rose to permeate throughout your body rose is the color of love,

Pink color of love.

And then exhaling softly sunset orange.

Orange is the color of sacral chakra,

The mix of red and yellow,

Very creative.

One more time breath in deep blue holding deep rose exhaling sensuous vibrant orange.

Very,

Very good.

And allow your senses to experience that landscape in nature now.

Experience that body of water near you,

By you,

Perhaps it's beneath or around you,

Even over you if it's a gentle waterfall you're sitting underneath.

Experience your senses loving,

Enjoying the water as though you are completely at home in and one with the flow of this water.

Yeah.

Sva-tistana is the Sanskrit name for your sacral chakra.

And it means the place of the self.

Sva meaning self,

Also meaning sacredness.

The place of the sacred self,

The seed of all my personal likes,

Dislikes,

Wants,

Desires,

My feelings.

Owning those feelings sacral chakra's affirmation is I have the right to feel whatever it is that I feel.

The bright and the dark,

The fast and the slow,

The dull and the sharp.

I have the right to feel what it is that I feel.

And I can love and accept me right there.

Owning Sva-tistana,

Place of the self.

Allow yourself to further dwell in,

Float in near those waters.

Perhaps they lap up and they sweep across your toes or your legs or your lap.

Perhaps they sprinkle pleasurably lightly upon your shoulders or your arms,

Your chest and neck.

Allow those waters to have a healing and a blessing quality.

I am one with the flow of nature.

I am one with the powerful life and the force that is the seed of my sacral chakra.

Know that this is a place you can bring yourself to whenever you need to.

Love,

Accept and be with your own inner young toddler the age of six months to two years.

The age that is associated developmentally with our sacral chakra.

When all our feelings,

Senses come alive and we know what we love and do not love,

Reclaiming that innocence and that cherishing.

Of that inner child self.

I share with you today from one of my favorite affirmation authors Louise Hay her book Heal Your Body.

The affirmations that she prescribes for two particular spots in the low body that happen to be related to our focal point,

The hips,

The sacral chakra.

The affirmations for lumbar three in your low back.

I release the past.

I cherish myself and my beautiful sexuality.

I am safe.

I am loved.

For lumbar four in your low back.

I love who I am.

I am grounded in my own power.

I am secure on all levels.

Those three affirmations are also shared with root chakra,

Our health and wealth and well-being chakra.

Lumbar five,

The last of the 24 vertebrae in our spine.

Low L5 affirmation.

I deserve to enjoy life.

I ask for what I want and I accept with joy and pleasure.

And with these now,

I wish you a lovely restful meditation as you allow yourself to continue to waft within that beautiful landscape scene,

Hearing,

Feeling,

The water droplets and currents synchronized with your own breath and heartbeat.

As you feel the water droplets all around,

Feeling the glorious sunset orange flame colors corresponding to the beauty of the flame colors in your own sacral chakra.

I invite you to close this meditation with one more round of sunset pranayama.

Breathing in beautiful deep sunset blue from the horizon,

Holding in loving sunset rose to all of your body.

Exhaling beautiful sunset orange in which you float as within an orange colored egg shape.

The light in me salutes the light in you.

Namaste.

Thank youπŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»Loved the meditation, especially the sunset pranayama. I would not call it a yoga nidra though and there is lots of microphone noise. Gentle, soothing voiceπŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»
