This poem explores those moments when doubt way you down. It speaks to the courage to rise despite external resistance, the ability to learn from lapses, and the wisdom to embrace life’s cyclical nature—a wavy upward spiral of growth. Through reflections on figures such as Rachel Carson and Henri Rousseau, it inspires perseverance in the face of challenges. This piece invites you to hold space for intuition, align choices with values, and trust in the journey, knowing that your ultimate place of refuge resides within. This track is part of a series of 15 reflective poems on Insight Timer under the theme 'I Ask My Being,' each exploring an aspiration, its accompanying challenges, as well as observations to help find solace in our experiences. Averaging around five minutes each, these poetic soliloquies are perfect for savasana, mindful walks, bedtime musings, and peaceful drives. Each track features my narration, set to a neoclassical piano composition by Arash Behzadi.

I ask for resilience.

To rise when doubts have weighed me down.

Not to wait for the right mood.

It'll come,

It's in the move.

To know that no uphill path exists without its steep fall.

To remember that external resistance is not always an indication of ineptness or grounds for withdrawal.

Jumana Haddad,

Rachel Carson,

Henry Rousseau,

Johann Kepler.

They just kept going,

Despite all.

I ask for resilience.

Not to be disheartened when I lapse into old habits.

For they are reminders of where I no longer wish to be,

And of what I wish to harness.

My journey is cyclical,

A wavy upward spiral,

With peaks that raise my spirits,

And troughs that cradle insights.

Should I feel confused or trapped,

I will remember that such states are often due to my indecision,

Pursuing two goals that conflict,

Or just one,

But evading sacrifice for it.

If I am still hesitant,

I will breathe while holding space for my intuition,

And I will reflect on whether the step I am considering aligns with my values.

Like hot springs bubbling on the Earth's crust,

Temptations emerge from the sunken fears of my subconscious,

Sometimes distracting,

Sometimes misleading.

Even so,

I trust that wherever my decisions take me,

I will find my way home,

For my primary place of refuge is always within.
