This guided meditation invokes the Ancient Egyptian Goddess, Tefnut, in her Lioness form. By calling in Ancient Egyptian Goddess Energy, we allow ourselves to turn up the volume on our Empowered Layers of being & deepen our relationship with symbolic language; the language of the soul. This practice releases & activates our masculine side, the Yang or the Sun aspect of our Nature. Tefnut in her Lioness form shows us that we need this side if we are going to act decisively on our own behalf.

Welcome to your daily Egyptian Goddess practice.

I'm Mary Lou.

I'm a writer,

Yoga and mindfulness meditation teacher.

I work with ancient Egyptian Goddess energy to show women over 40 how to find more body confidence.

Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down where you know you will not be disturbed.

Make any final adjustments,

Allowing the spine to express its length.

If you're seated,

Take some time to allow the shoulders to gently melt away from the ears as you keep the height through the spine.

Establishing firm foundation through the sit bones.

Lifting through the spine,

Length through the back of the neck.

Crown shining towards the sky.

Open hearted receptivity.

It might feel beneficial to make contact with the earth through the soles of the feet if you're sitting on a chair.

Pressing down the base of the big toes,

The little toes and the corners of the heels.

Having established this stable base for your practice,

Begin to notice the breath arriving and leaving in its own time.

Notice its cadence.

Notice the quality of the breath.

Becoming the witness of the breath,

Allowing it to arrive and leave without judgment or interference.

This guided meditation allows us to tap into the goddess powers latent within us as we call in the goddess Tefnut.

Remember by calling in ancient Egyptian goddess energy,

You're allowing yourself to turn up the volume on the empowered layers of your being.

Deepening your relationship with symbolic language,

Which we know is the language of the soul.

Letting go of thinking,

Analyzing,

Allowing the body to hear this language,

Receive this language and respond to this language.

We know that we have a sun aspect as well as a moon aspect to our nature.

We need our yang,

Sun,

Male side to get things done,

Make plans,

Employ logic,

Activate change and burn away the old to make way for the new.

When yin and yang,

The sun and the moon are in balance in us,

We're in a state of wholeness.

There's a dynamic interplay of these energies all times in each one of us.

Also know that out of balance,

It can be difficult to know how to come back on track.

Have you been feeling timid or acting small?

Are you feeling stuck,

Sluggish,

Unmotivated,

Never really trusting that change can or will happen?

If so,

It's a danger of disconnection to others,

To your highest version of yourself.

It's time to unapologize,

Release stagnation as we work with the powerful ancient Egyptian goddess Tefnut in her aspect as lioness.

Call in Tefnut,

Maybe saying out loud or inwardly,

I hear and respond to the messages which Tefnut holds for me.

I hear and respond to the messages which Tefnut holds for me.

It's time to extend the next exhalation,

Making way for deep inhalation through the nose,

Deep long breath.

Hold the top of the inhalation and through the nose,

Slowly release.

Take another deep inhale down to the base of the spine.

And through the nose,

Softly taking your time,

Exhale,

Watching the breath come from the root of the spine.

All the way up the central energy channel through the nose.

Bending into the ring finger and holding it down with the thumb on both hands,

Take the backs of the hands to the knees if you're seated or next to you if you're lying down,

Palms facing up.

We're going to invoke the qualities of the responsive male and fire element of Tefnut.

Tune into the gentle flow of the breath,

Again watching the breath as it travels down to the root of the spine on the inhale and travels all the way up,

Now through the nose again on the exhale.

Start to build this breath so it is longer and deeper.

You might even open the mouth for the exhale and allow any stagnant energies you've been holding onto to be encouraged to leave you from the pit of the stomach.

You might even stick out the tongue.

Repeat this if this feels good.

You can leave it behind if it's not for you.

Then coming back to your natural breath,

Softening the breath,

Noticing anything that has shifted in the body as you breathe in and out through the nose.

Say inwardly,

I acknowledge and honour the unique blend of male and female energies within me.

I acknowledge and honour the unique blend of male and female energies within me.

In the Tefnut myth,

We learn that Tefnut has a fierce and fiery aspect as lioness.

This fiercely benevolent side of Tefnut is in contrast to the cat form.

Six divine cubits are about ten feet long.

She tosses her mane before the trash.

Her fur emits fiery smoke.

Her back becomes the colour of blood.

Her face shines like the sun.

Her eyes glow like fire,

Casting out flames like the sun at midday in summer.

Every part of her grows luminous as well as everything around her.

She stamps with her front leg and the mountains become dust.

She flicks her tail and the sand whirls around her.

She gnashes her teeth and the mountains send forth flames.

She scrapes her claws together and the trees wither.

Her nose emits a blast of fire and nearly large flies come out of it.

She roars with all the strength of her voice.

The mountain covers its face and turns black.

The light becomes darkness midday.

You're watching anything that comes up for you.

You stay with the breath,

Watching the inhale arrive,

Through the nose perhaps a little bit cooler and the exhale leaving the nose a little bit warmer.

There might be a question that is forming for you.

Ask Tefnut in her form of lioness.

This question might be along the lines of how do I honour the fiercely benevolent part of my nature.

Maybe this benevolence is towards yourself.

A readiness to stand proud and stand by what is appropriate for you,

What you're asking for.

Are you ready to move on and shift and let go of?

How would your roar sound?

If you're in a chair with the feet on the earth pressing the parts of the feet back down into the earth allowing the shoulders to swear to the rest of your day.

If you're seated on a cushion sit tall,

Allow the shoulders to melt away from the ears.

If you're lying down maybe you take a little bit of time to stretch.

When you're ready begin to open your eyes.

You might even rub the hands together to create some heat.

Press the hands together in prayer,

Hjalimudra,

From making contact with the sternum.

Close by saying to yourself when my solar and lunar energies are in balance I am in tune with my highest potential.

When my solar and lunar energies are in balance I am in tune with my highest potential.

Feeling into the left hand against the right,

The right hand against the left,

The yin and the yang,

Responsive,

Receptive,

Male and female,

Fused at the heart.

Start to open the eyes,

If you haven't done so already.

If you're seated bow your head to seal your practice.

Bring it all back to the heart and I'll see you next time.
