Reconnecting with the Earth.

This meditation is about your connection to your environment and more broadly the earth as a whole.

Taking your time to settle into a sitting or standing posture that helps you feel awake and relaxed.

If you're sitting you might like to uncross your legs,

Feeling your feet firmly on the ground and having an upright back and slightly lowering your head,

Allowing some spaciousness in the back of the neck.

You can lower your gaze or close your eyes if you're comfortable to do so.

Bring your attention to breathing and noticing the breath coming into your body and then turning and going out again.

Perhaps feeling where the breath is most noticeable in the body.

Maybe it's your belly and chest filling up like a hot air balloon or in your throat,

Nose or mouth.

You might have a place that the breath is most familiar and it becomes an anchor for your attention to return to each time your mind gets distracted.

Where do you notice your breath the most?

Noticing how the breath goes in and out and how that feels inside your body.

Noticing as the breath leaves the body and how the body feels as you let go of the breath and release it.

Allowing the body to soften on the exhale.

Turn your attention to your feet,

Feeling into each toe,

Heel and arch of the foot and the ground below.

You might begin to notice a connection between your feet and the ground beneath you.

Letting your awareness keep expanding beyond your feet to the earth below you.

Noticing how as you become aware of the ground and the earth itself you feel safe and grounded.

Breathing into this sense of being grounded on the earth and notice the way the ground rises up to meet you.

Continuing to allow this sense of being held,

Supported and embraced by the earth.

Noticing how our bodies and the earth are always connected and how we can take time to notice and care for this connection.

You might like to reflect upon your life and the interconnection with the earth and how everything you need to live is given to us from the earth.

All the food that we eat,

The water that we drink,

Light we need to see,

Air we need to breathe and the energy resources we use to live.

Even our homes,

Schools and workplaces are provided from the earth's resources.

As we reflect on these gifts from the earth we might feel a growing sense of care and appreciation towards the earth.

You might like to reflect on how the earth and our bodies are connected and composed of the same matter,

The same basic particles joined in different ways.

Feeling into a sense of being home in your body and mind with a true sense of care,

Belonging and connection to the earth.

Returning your attention to the breath,

Sensing your connection with the earth and feeling at home in your body and mind.

Just breathing in and out slowly and steadily.

When you're ready you might like to wiggle your toes,

Take a little stretch and begin to slowly open your eyes and continue on your way.
