Hello,

This is Meg Rinaldi of Body Centered Inquiry,

And this is a meditation on taking medicine within.

Sitting comfortably or lying down comfortably,

Pick up the medicine container and feel it in your hand.

Feel its shape,

Denseness,

Texture,

The quality of warmth or cold.

If you go to a clinic to receive intravenous treatment or take medicine in some other way,

Take time to imagine yourself in whatever setting makes sense to you.

Take time to imagine it in as much detail as possible.

Take your time to notice if the medicine is regarded wholeheartedly as a medium of healing or if there is a modicum of shame or failure that accompanies it.

Take your time here breathing.

Be gentle with yourself.

Focus on the healing qualities within the medicine.

Would you name one or two of those healing qualities for yourself?

Name whatever is meaningful for you in this moment.

Consider the medicine and its healing potential.

Allow your body to open to receive the healing within.

Sense the treatment's potential to enter fully in the area that needs healing.

Sense its potential to bring equanimity and balance.

Listen to the medicine.

Does it have something to say?

What is its tone of voice?

Is there any sense of helplessness in your relationship to the medicine?

Just notice.

Meet any resistance with mercy and awareness.

Look on these medications with loving kindness and gratitude.

Thank the medicine for whatever healing it has to offer before you ingest it or take it into your body.

Feel the medicine settling into your stomach or anywhere else in your body like a soft golden light.

Could you allow it to be conveyed to the place of need?

Could loving kindness direct its healing qualities to the area or areas of greatest need?

Feel those places in your body absorb the healing.

Take your time.

Let it in.

Receive this medicine as blessing.

Find an image which opens you to the healing of this medicine.

See it as a gift from a great teacher,

As a sacred communion between the outer and inner worlds,

As the smile of compassion on the soft face of the Divine Mother.

Let it in.

Allow it into your being.

Allow the loving kindness to combine with the treatment that directs it into the area or areas which call for healing.

Allow the medicine to be drawn in.

Healthy and awareness binding each molecule sent wholeheartedly into the cause of suffering.

Feel the medication dissolving the resistances of a lifetime,

Dispelling the tension and difficulty around illness.

Feel it entering directly.

Feel it melting injury and illness.

Let this medicine heal you.

A much-needed and very powerful exercise. A true mind-body practice. Helpful for anybody with a chronic or difficult illness. Data shows that our attitude about our therapies can impact our outcomes. I will share this with my Long Covid Recovery group here on IT.

Thank you so much for this meditation. So many times people try to separate the healing powers of meditation, diet, exercise and medication - Almost as if meditation, diet and exercise can cure my genetic defect. It breaks down so much resistance to harness the powers of meditation and lifestyle and combine them with my IV medications. There is good health in bringing all these elements together :)

A unique take on a practice many of us partake in daily. While I admit to exercising occasional direct attention, awareness, and gratitude towards my medications and treatment, particularly when running into "pill fatigue," I have never thought to formalize it into a practice. This was very well done as a formal practice. NOTE: Though not stated in the description nor the spoken introduction, this practice will direct you to take medicine (as applicable to your situation), so I would recommend timing this practice for close to a regularly scheduled medication intake. Otherwise, you may visualize it instead. (I tried both ways, and found the actual taking of the medication to make for a more effective practice in that section, but as always, your mileage may vary.) I would note that discussion of how to handle treatments rather than medications come AFTER the guidance on what to do, so be patient if that is your situation, and know your treatment will be addressed properly after the medication. It also does not necessarily explicitly mention multiple medications nor medications plus treatments, but this is flexible and open enough to put your particular needs into it with little difficulty. It also does not include the emotion of resentment towards having to take medication when it does address one's attitude towards it, but here again, an easy enough swap if that should be necessary. Overall, great concept, great pacing, unique practice, and one that I highly recommend. I've bookmarked and downloaded this track and plan to keep it handy for those days when I simply want to rebel and not take anything even though I know I should. Thank you for this practice, Meg. Well done as usual. I see the light in you. 🤲❤️🤲
