The Judgment card,
Also referred to as Aeon in the Thoth deck,
Symbolises a moment of ultimate reckoning and self-realisation.
It reflects the time of evaluation,
Where our past actions,
Decisions and experiences are brought to light,
Judged and distilled into wisdom.
Judgment represents a phase following upheaval,
The clear resounding call to a higher awareness and the consequential steps towards a renewed life path.
This card invites us to rise from our past,
Armed with truth and insights,
And to answer our own calling with renewed purpose and understanding.
So just making sure you are comfortable,
Whether seated or lying down.
Close your eyes.
Just taking a couple of deep breaths.
Just allowing the mind and body to relax naturally.
And just allowing the breath to return now to a natural rhythm.
Releasing all control of it.
And bringing your attention to the sensation of the breath.
If at any point the mind wanders,
Simply bring the attention back to the exercise.
And now,
Imagine yourself entering a vast ancient hall.
This is a space of judgement and clarity.
This hall is lit by a clear,
Bright light.
And will serve as the setting for an encounter with the essence of judgement.
At the end of this hall stands a figure.
This figure represents the essence of judgement.
Embodying truth and clarity.
They might appear as some kind of mythical,
Sage or angelic figure,
Or any other form that feels right to you.
Approach the figure,
And examine them more closely.
Observe their various details.
Their demeanour.
Their stance towards you.
And how you feel in their presence.
Does the figure of judgement have any initial message for you?
Whether in words,
Or non-verbal communication.
Before we proceed,
Take a moment to check in with the weight of your intentions,
Deeds and unresolved matters.
Acknowledge the presence of these experiences,
And their impact on your life.
And remind yourself,
Everything you experience in this exercise is a reflection of your own inner wisdom.
There is no way around any of these unresolved matters.
There is only through them.
And that can and must be challenging.
However,
Remember that the judgement figure is working in your best interests always.
And that with this knowledge and confidence,
This figure can lead you to significant insights and transformations.
With that said,
The figure of judgement presents you with a mirror.
Stand before this mirror,
And review the weights of your actions,
And their outcomes.
This is a moment for honest self-reflection,
Without judgements,
Or self-deception.
Whatever you see here,
Remember,
This reflection is symbolic.
Not a literal,
Whole or prescriptive judgement of who you are.
If what you see here happens to be difficult,
Do not worry.
These images are often exaggerated,
As reflective of what still needs to happen in our individuation journey.
So gaze into the mirror.
What do you see?
Invite a symbolic representation of your deeds to appear.
Are there aspects of what you see that you feel comfortable with?
That's all good and well.
But are there any aspects that you don't feel comfortable with?
Remember that aspects of ourselves we've denied,
Or pushed away,
Often are uncomfortable.
But by the same token,
They do not define who we are.
And why the symbols that show up for us,
Do not on their own,
Fully encapsulate our whole and complete personality.
So having observed this reflection,
Just notice how you feel for a moment,
Before turning your attention back to the figure of judgement.
You're now going to ask the figure a series of questions,
About what you experienced,
Looking in the mirror.
And as you do,
Just state each question to the figure,
And see how they respond.
Ask the figure,
What truths about my life have I been avoiding?
And how can I face them now?
What actions from my past am I ready to assimilate,
Evaluate,
And learn from?
How can I repent,
Reconcile with others and myself,
And move forward positively?
What is the next step in my individuation journey?
And how can I initiate it?
The judgement figure invites you to engage in a symbolic act of purification.
This might be like passing through a beam of cleansing light,
Sound,
Or fire,
Or any other symbolic act that cleanses you of past regrets,
And clarifies your strengths.
Engage in this act now,
And feel the release of these past burdens.
If the process doesn't feel entirely complete,
Of course that's fine,
Quite normal.
This exercise isn't intended to absolve anything that must be resolved outside of the exercise,
But it is intended to help deepen your relationship with the energy of judgement,
And help reconcile with some of these heavier,
Unresolved aspects of yourself.
Re-engage now with the figure of judgement,
To discuss the insights gained,
And the path forward.
Take some time to engage in a free-form dialogue with the figure.
Ask any further questions that you need to ask.
Aim to achieve understanding around the progress that has been made today,
And any unresolved issues that may remain.
So,
As this conversation draws to a close,
Thank the figure now,
For their wisdom and guidance,
Just allowing the scene to fade.
Remember,
It's a good idea to journal this experience after the exercise,
And continue to reflect on it,
As new insights are likely to appear over the coming days and weeks.
Suggest bringing your attention back to the space around you now,
Noticing any sounds,
Or sensations,
Taking a deep breath,
And in your own time,
Opening your eyes again.
