Goal Setting Workshop Live Recording
During this 40-minute workshop, Madi will take you step-by-step through an incredible outline that works backward, in order to have you not only define and refine your goals but have them happen. Sometimes we miss vital steps when writing down our big goals. Most people fail to recognize the feeling they're looking to achieve, and so when they finally get that pay raise and still don't feel financially free, they get stuck always wanting more. This workshop will give you an opportunity to envision your desired reality, and then break down those big dreams into bite-sized, achievable steps that will challenge your comfort zone and change your life. You might just find that you're happier and more at peace before even checking off all the "to-do" boxes. The categories of goals are Health/body/fitness, Business/career/finance, Family/relationships, Spiritual/Personal Growth/service, and Leisure/recreation. Well, what are you waiting for? Open up your notebook and let's get it!

Hello,
Welcome!
This is my 2024 New Year's goal-setting workshop that I did live here on Insight Timer.
So this is the recorded workshop.
So it's going to move a little bit quickly.
Feel free to pause anytime you need and just have a piece of paper or a computer or somewhere to write on and I hope you enjoy it.
Let me know if you do.
All right,
So let's start with a meditation since we're here on Insight Timer together as meditators.
So sitting back in your chair,
Wherever you are,
I'll just have you take a deep inhale through the nose,
Sighing out any stagnant energy from sleep,
Any to-do lists for the week ahead.
Inhale,
Fresh life force and release.
Inhale,
Fill the belly and the chest and let it go.
And I want you to just bring to mind what your intention is for this beautiful new year and for being on this workshop.
What is it that you would love to learn,
Accomplish,
Grow into,
Let go of?
Why are you here holding that in your heart space?
I'm going to just send some Reiki energy healing to help remove any blockages,
Any resistance and to just fill you and your aura.
If you would like to receive this energy,
Simply nod your head or say yes aloud to give permission.
And just listening to whatever sounds may be around you without judgment and also becoming aware of what your body is saying and getting really in tune with that higher self,
Connecting with your angels who are guiding you.
And I pray that any resistance or doubt,
Insecurity,
Fear would flee from your being,
Any resistance would simply dissipate.
Just receiving that.
Alright,
And whenever you're ready you can just blink the eyes open,
Drinking some water or maybe some coffee depending on where you are in the world and we will get started.
Feel free to share anything in the comments at any time.
Feel free to donate which is very helpful to me with my goal of being able to do Insight Timer full-time.
And if you can't donate,
I'm just glad you're here.
It's a free resource for you guys because my listeners on Insight Timer have blown me away.
So thank you if you are a listener.
If not,
Make sure that you follow so you can tune in to more things.
Alright,
Let's get started.
So here is what we are going to do.
You're going to make this goals outline.
Start it with your name at the top.
Okay,
Just like you would in school.
Underneath you're going to put your vision for the world.
And I should I type?
I'll have to edit it out.
The sound of typing.
And your vision for the world is something that you can come back to.
It's gonna look something like my vision for the world is a world where everyone knows their gifts and shares them.
A world where everyone is patient,
Kind,
And loving.
A world where nobody is hungry.
A world where,
I don't know,
There's infinite possibilities.
But something that if you're not aligned with your goals,
You can come back and really look at like why are we doing all this?
Am I being a contribution to what I want to see the world look like?
Moving along,
There are five categories in this outline for your goals.
Yeah,
Five.
The first one,
I want you to write these all down.
I'm gonna write them for you in the chat.
The first one is health slash body slash fitness.
The second one is business slash career slash finance.
The third one is family slash relationships.
The fourth is spiritual slash personal growth.
And I include service here.
You can put service if service work is important to you,
Which I hope that it is because it is transformational.
The fifth is leisure and recreation.
Leisure slash recreation.
What we're going to do is you're going to choose one category which you'd like to focus on just for this workshop.
You will do them all on your own time,
But during this workshop you will work on one specific.
So if you're like really good at business and career,
Don't pick that one,
Right?
Pick something that would be a breakthrough for you because you'll have the accountability here.
Okay,
Now if you are wanting to change careers,
Then you can pick business,
Career,
Finance.
So once you have that,
I'm going to have you write down one year from now and you're going to outflow journal style in first person.
Okay,
It's very important that you write in first person.
I'm going to give you a few minutes to do this.
Simply in this category,
What would your 10 life look like one year from now if everything went perfectly?
Okay,
If everything went perfectly in your perfect world,
What would your life look like?
And I want you to really feel it.
This is more about being and not so like jotting down bullet points.
This is your outflow journal style of what you want to feel like.
So really feel like who are you around,
What foods are you eating,
What smells,
What colors,
Like paint the picture of what it feels like.
Okay,
I'm give you a few minutes for that.
So make sure you're using the words I am,
Not things like I will or I want,
But I am.
Okay,
Wonderful.
So the next thing that you're going to do,
We're going to start to do bullet points now.
Actual,
Measurable,
Tangible goals.
Okay,
The first one you're going to do is six months and the reason that we don't do nine months and all those things is because at six months I like for for myself I go back into my goals and I reevaluate my commitments to everything.
Sometimes things do change and you want to make sure you're setting yourself up to win at the end of the year.
So if you have stuff on your goals list that you're no longer working on or you want to add stuff,
That's a great time to do it,
Six months.
So we're going to start at six months.
Five to seven bullet points.
What would need to happen physically,
Tangibly in order for this vision to come to life?
These points get to be stretchy outside of your comfort zone but also attainable.
Okay,
So an example of that is if you want to become a doctor but you have no degree at all,
You wouldn't be getting a bachelor's degree in six months.
Something that's actually attainable and measurable.
So going to the gym more is not a measurable goal.
How many times per week,
Right?
Or how much money do you have saved,
Specific,
Right?
So five to seven roughly steps that you would need to happen at six months.
We're working backwards.
Yes,
We're working backwards.
A couple minutes for that.
Okay,
So we're going to start at six months.
How many times per week,
Right?
So five to seven roughly steps that you would need to happen at six months.
So going to the gym more is not a measurable goal.

And your willingness a lot of times is what will open the doors to have these things actually occur.
The miracle of being willing to face the thing that's in the way,
All of a sudden the floodgates open.
And that's what I want for you guys this year,
Is that the floodgates open because you are willing to face the thing that you're attached to that's in the way.
As far as how can I contribute to others if I need myself a smile.
A smile is a contribution.
How many times we walk past someone on the street and we put our head down because we just don't feel like it.
If you're tired and you're weary,
Understand that giving doesn't come from you.
If you're giving from your own cup you're going to burn out.
If you are acting as a conduit of something higher,
If you're allowing God to move through you,
Whatever that means to you,
A higher power of some sort,
Could be love,
Just the energy of love moving through you,
Instead of coming from you,
Then we can start to receive it ourselves.
We never empty.
In fact,
We're filling ourselves up every time we smile at a stranger,
Every time we say hello,
Ask someone if they're okay,
Call somebody on the phone that you just thought about intuitively.
How are you doing?
You know,
Even if you say I can't talk long,
But I just wanted to check on you and tell you I love you.
So if you want to help others,
Understand that it doesn't have to be this grandiose thing.
If you feel a calling to make this your career to help others,
Then take steps towards that.
But as far as helping others,
It's a day to day thing.
Okay,
When I started practicing Reiki,
The first thing that God told me was go and do free circles at the beach for free.
Okay,
I just wanted to contribute to people.
And this is where I learned my gifts in leading meditation and recognizing that Reiki isn't about me.
It's about getting out of the way.
And it taught me so much and actually enabled me to go and make this a career.
The more you give,
The more you're going to receive.
Yes,
You are in need.
And as you give,
You are receiving.
That is a principle,
A spiritual law that you can only experience.
I can't explain it to you,
But it's something you have to experience for yourself.
Be willing to give.
It's nice to just make dinner for somebody that lost a family member.
It's about a gesture.
Maybe somebody at work that you can tell is struggling.
Write them a note.
It's so simple.
The real root here is like believing that you are a gift.
If you want to give to others,
Understand that you are a gift.
You are a gift.
So just being present with people is a gift.
Being present,
Looking at them,
Listening to them.
So if you guys don't go deep on this in your fears,
Likely you're going to struggle with this goal.
You're going to struggle with this because the fear will come up.
This self-limiting belief is going to come up.
Why have you not done this before?
Fear of rejection,
Fear of failure.
I don't even think I said that one.
Are you afraid to fail?
Are you afraid to look bad?
Some of us are way too attached to the way we look.
We want to look successful.
We want to look like we have our shit together.
Sorry,
I don't think I can cuss on here.
We want to look a certain way to the world,
And so we'll never go for something bigger and expand because in expansion,
There's breakdown.
We're too attached to the way we look.
Are you willing to face your perfectionism?
Are you willing to face failure?
Are you willing to fail in order to have this happen?
Genuinely,
Ask yourself that question,
And then write it down.
I am willing to fail because failure is not the end.
It's the thing that's going to get you there.
You're going to write the fears slash self-limiting beliefs or insecurities,
However that resonates with you,
That I'm willing to face in order to have this happen.
So,
This is where the magic happens.
We have one year,
We have our bullet points,
We have why is this goal important,
And then our fears and self-limiting beliefs.
This is the magic.
By the way,
You're going to do the rest of these on your own.
Okay,
So business,
Career,
Finance,
Family relationships,
Spiritual,
Personal growth,
Leisure and recreation,
Health and body and fitness,
All of them.
You're going to write all of them down,
And I love to highlight six months and make them like blue,
Three months and make it green so that I can actually see visually if that works for you.
So,
Now we have our goal sheet.
Imagine it's all done.
Everything is beautifully written and outlined.
Now,
Weekly promises.
So,
This is basically like your checklist for the week.
This is not a laundry list.
This is not a to-do list.
This is your promises for the week that has to do with your goals.
Okay,
And so each week,
You will debrief the week before.
It's going to look like this.
Last week's accomplishments,
You may want to write,
But most importantly,
This is how we reflect without self-beat up.
What worked?
It could be something tangible like going to the gym worked.
Could be facing uncomfortability or confidence worked.
Praying before I went into a meeting worked.
What worked for you?
And then what did not work?
So,
Scrolling on the phone,
Eating dinner late or not planning dinner.
Okay,
Not scheduling a phone call with my loved one.
And then I didn't get it done when I said I would because they weren't available.
And then what do I get to add or do differently?
And that's it.
And I don't want you to reflect anymore on anything that happened.
That's it.
If it comes up in your mind,
Let it go.
Or maybe jot it down here and then let it go.
There's no self-beat up here.
And then you're going to go into your promises.
So,
Five to 15 goals each week based on your yearly goal outline.
So,
You'll look at your one month and you will write for the week five to 15 goals.
Don't go crazy.
If you're a type of person that gets overwhelmed,
Maybe make three.
Yes,
It's a big range,
Melissa,
Because there's different personality types and I really want to make sure that people understand this is for you.
This is for you.
This is super relational to you.
So,
If you're the type of person that loves checklists like me,
I can do a 15 checklist goal and 15 thing goal sheet in a week because I get satisfaction checking those boxes.
But there are people who don't love that overwhelms them and they want to more feel femininely into what they get to do.
So,
You might want to do less.
That's not a reflection of how much you're getting done.
Again,
Your productivity is not your worth.
How much you do is not how good you are.
Feel into what's right for you each week.
Maybe one week you're feeling more down in energy and you want to do three goals.
Maybe the next week you're feeling full of life and you want to do 10.
That's why the promises are so great because each week gets to be your own and it's based on this bigger picture that you have now written.
Can you separate into different categories?
I'm not sure what you mean.
Yeah,
We have the five categories.
Oh,
In the promises?
Yes.
So,
The promises can be any range.
Maybe one week you have like all business goals.
Maybe another week you have one from each.
Good question.
Yeah,
So it doesn't have to be any specific one,
But you would look at your one month goals for all of the categories and go,
Okay,
What do I want to do this week?
What do I get to do this week?
Laurie said,
I think it would be difficult to focus on all the topics at one time.
Exactly.
So,
For you,
If that's something that doesn't really make sense for you,
Then one week you'll work on business,
One week you'll work on health.
But the other thing is,
Really breaking this down is going to help you because if one week you're going to the gym four times a week and then the next week you aren't paying attention to your health at all,
It's not going to be cohesive.
So,
Make small goals.
This isn't a way to make you overwhelmed,
But more so,
Okay,
On Mondays I go to the gym.
Mondays and Wednesdays I go to the gym.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays I work on my side hustle.
And each day I meditate for 10 minutes a day.
And that could be it.
I want to let you guys know that I do have a group on Insight Timer.
These little groups,
I don't know what they call them.
And it's called 2024 Accountability.
So,
If you want accountability,
We send each other our promises on Sundays every week.
And then each week you'll pick somebody,
A little buddy,
To hold accountable for your goals,
Which is really fun.
And you can just really feel support.
I'm seeing a lot of hearts.
So,
If you want to be in that,
It's on my page somewhere.
I don't know how to navigate.
Sometimes Insight Timer is a little tricky with that.
But,
Yeah,
I would love if you guys would hold each other accountable.
It's always helpful,
For sure.
And then sometimes you're not going to do promises one week,
Right,
Because you're just going to be tired.
And it's okay.
Your productivity is not your worth.
All right,
Let's close out with a short meditation.
If you'd like to receive Reiki,
Just saying yes.
Breathing deeply into the stretchy,
Scary thing.
What it feels like in your body.
Maybe it feels like anxiety in your chest.
Maybe it feels like excitement in your belly.
As you get grounded and present,
Start to feel the higher realms,
The heavenly realms around you.
Your angels,
Your ancestors,
Your spirit guides,
All around you,
Supporting you.
And I pray that your health would be improved.
That any health issues would be dissolved.
That armies of angels would lay their hands over your body.
That you would feel their presence with you,
Your past loved ones,
Nudging you.
That you would trust your intuition more this year.
That you would be grateful and humble this year.
That you would be uplifted,
Spiritually.
That your finances would improve.
That your debt would be paid off.
That miracles would occur in your life.
Receive it.
Receive it.
You're worth it.
You are loved.

I want to thank you guys so much for being here.
I really appreciate it.
I hope you had a good time.
I know I did.
I love doing lives on Insight Timer.
Shout out Insight Timer.
Make sure through all this,
If you remember nothing,
Focus on your way of being,
How you feel.
Not the doingness,
But the beingness.
How do you want to feel?
Wake up every morning,
Look in the mirror and go,
Today I am confident.
Today I am financially abundant.
Today I am connected and loving and forgiving.
You got this.
Have a great year,
Everybody.
