Hello friends,

I'm Lu Qin.

I used to have very bad tinnitus,

Sometimes as if siren gets started all of a sudden.

This is a qi gong practice I use to stop the ringing in the ears.

Hopefully,

It can help you too in finding some relief.

For this healing practice,

We will be using the middle fingers from both hands.

Please make sure your fingernails are trimmed and filed so they're not long or sharp.

Qi gong is an integral part of traditional Chinese medicine.

When doing qi gong,

We use our breath,

Our yi,

That is our heart,

Mind,

Or our intuition,

And the creative visualization.

And sometimes we add or we incorporate healing movements to balance the energy in the body to help ourselves to heal.

In Chinese medicine,

Our ears and our kidneys are one system.

Kidney meridian opens into the ears.

Often,

Tinnitus is caused by kidney deficiency that in turn causes energy imbalance in the kidney meridian.

Generally speaking,

Kidney deficiency and tinnitus can lead to memory loss,

Low energy,

And the lack of the ability to concentrate,

And much more.

When you are experiencing ringing in the ears,

Immediately plug your middle fingers into your ears.

Then begin to use qi gong breathing techniques by lightly touching the tip of the tongue on the roof of your mouth.

Make sure your fingers are snug in the ears,

Touching all sides.

You may want to try to turn the pad of the middle fingers facing back.

That will keep middle fingers nice and snug in the opening of the ear canal.

And to keep the elbows open,

There's no need to apply a lot of pressure or insert too deeply in the ear canal.

You might be wondering why we plug the middle fingers into the ears.

Let's first understand the connection between the heart,

The middle fingers,

And the kidneys.

In traditional Chinese medicine,

Five element theory,

The kidney is in the water element,

Whereas the heart is in the fire element.

The relationship between these two organs is like water and fire.

When the heart and the kidney connect to each other through their energetic connections,

It helps the fire element to nourish the water element.

It helps the body to restore its natural physiological balance.

The 12 main meridians have lateral and symmetrical distribution on the head,

Face,

Trunk,

And limbs.

The pericardial meridian starts from the chest,

Runs through the middle of the inner side of the arm,

And ends at the tip of the middle finger.

Pericardium is the guardian to the heart,

And both heart and pericardium are in the fire element.

In this technique,

By connecting the middle fingers to the ears,

We ask the heart to help the kidney to reach its state of balance,

To stop the ringing in the ears.

Although it might be only a temporary relief,

However,

For some people,

It is indeed a good relief.

With your middle fingers plugged into the ears nice and snug,

Close your eyes.

Tip of the tongue touches the roof of the mouth.

Tuck the chin slightly.

Spine is nice and straight,

But elbows are open,

Shoulders are relaxed.

Concentrate on your breath.

It is even more helpful to wear a slight smile.

Imagine fresh energy comes in from the left,

Through the left elbow,

Forearm,

And through the middle finger,

Travels through the air canal,

Slowly come out to the right ear,

Along the right finger,

Forearm,

Right elbow,

Then being released out to the right.

Let's do this together.

Hold your creative visualization.

Take a deep slow breath in.

See the beautiful healing light comes in from the left.

Hold a little longer when the light is going through the air canal.

Slowly release your breath.

See the light goes out to the right.

Repeat the deep breathing a few more times.

Usually for me,

By the third or the fourth breath,

The ringing would have stopped.

However,

It does take practice and concentration.

When I first learned this technique,

It didn't work that well.

However,

As I deepened my qigong practice in general,

This technique began to work better.

This is not a cure-all technique for tinnitus,

As the causes of tinnitus often have deeper roots.

However,

For some people,

This technique would offer a great relief.

You will feel your head become clear the moment you unplug your fingers from your ears.

In a sense,

You don't have to have tinnitus to try this qigong exercise.

Anytime you want to clear your head momentarily,

Plug your middle fingers into your ears.

The best medicine is in our body.

Let's tap into it.
