Welcome.

My name is Abigail Morrissey Reardon from Shine Wellness.

Today I will introduce to you the root chakra and will give you some background information and context.

Then I will lead you through meditation to bring the root chakra into balance.

The root chakra or muladhara is the first chakra and deals with your connection to the earth,

To your culture and your foundation.

Muladhara means root support in Sanskrit.

The root chakra is located at the base of the spine.

The energy of the root chakra extends from the base of the spine down like a root through the legs and feet.

It forms a deep connection between your physical body,

Environment and Mother Earth.

Muladhara allows you to be resonant with your surroundings,

Engaged and connected with the world around you.

The root chakra's primary quality is a sense of grounding.

It is your foundation and offers you security,

Engaging and connecting you to the world around you.

Muladhara is the survival center related to basic needs,

Primal and ancestral instincts.

It is your fight or flight response.

When you are grounded,

You live in your body.

You are present with yourself,

Aware and alert.

Muladhara is the center of vitality and physical energy.

It is grounded in material reality,

Making it the center of manifestation.

The element associated with muladhara is earth.

The organs associated are blood,

The spinal column,

The skeleton,

Bones,

Teeth,

Feet and legs.

The color associated with the root chakra is deep red.

The seed sound or the sound that you can chant to clear and connect to the root chakra is lahm.

Murr and frankincense serrata are wonderful grounding essential oils.

Murr brings emotional strength and revitalizes the body.

Frankincense serrata brings a sense of security.

Both of these essential oils can be grounding and connect you to your root chakra.

Chakra imbalances occur as an excess or deficiency of energy.

A balanced root chakra presents a stability,

Consistency and centeredness.

A functioning muladhara allows you to manage your basic needs such as food and shelter for yourself and families.

Grounding,

Determination,

Patience and perseverance are all qualities of root chakras functioning in balance.

The ability to manifest dreams into reality comes only after you are able to ground into your creative purpose.

The root chakra can become out of balance after drastic change or uprooting in one's life.

Excessive energy or an overactive muladhara can manifest as anger,

Annoyance,

Greediness,

Difficulty accepting change,

Rigid boundaries,

Materialism,

Being dependent on other security and impulsiveness.

Deficient energy or a blocked root chakra can manifest as feeling disconnected,

Disorganized,

Lack of focus,

Intense feelings of fear,

Anxiousness or restlessness.

You are earth.

You are the mountain.

You are unmovable.

You are unshakable.

You take care of yourself.

You are grounded.

You are strong.

You are safe.

I invite you now to join me for a meditation to bring your root chakra into balance.

Get into a comfortable position,

Whatever that looks like for you.

I recommend sitting in a comfortable chair with your feet firmly planted on the ground or earth beneath you.

Now I invite you to close your eyes.

This is your time.

Let go of worry.

Allow yourself to relax into this moment.

Notice any sounds outside of the room.

Acknowledge them and let them go.

Notice any sounds inside of the room.

Acknowledge them and let them go.

I invite you now to let your body relax.

See if you can relax your face and jaw.

Maybe you drop your shoulders.

Let your whole body relax.

I invite you now to take a cleansing breath in,

Breathing in cleansing energy and breathing out tension.

Let your breathing fall into its own natural rhythm,

Not trying to control it in any way.

Just observe as you breathe in relaxation and breathe out tension.

Breathe in relaxation,

Breathe out tension.

If thoughts intrude,

Allow them to float by,

Returning back to the breath.

Breathe in relaxation,

Breathe out tension.

Now I invite you to come on a journey with me,

A journey to a secluded garden,

A garden that is all yours.

Look around at the garden.

Know that you are alone.

You are safe and secure.

Standing in the garden,

You look to the left and you notice there is a beautiful bed of red roses.

Maybe you reach down and breathe in the scent of the flowers.

After you finish smelling the roses,

You stand up and start walking down a dirt path.

You notice you are barefoot,

Walking down the dirt path.

You look in front of you and out in the distance,

You see a great mountain.

The sky is clear.

The temperature is ideal.

You follow the path and start walking towards the mountain.

While on the path,

You take a moment to pause,

Standing firm in the rich soil of the earth.

You feel the soil nourishing and supporting you.

As you stand in the soil,

You feel strong.

Standing on the dirt path,

You begin to grow roots from the bottom of your feet.

The roots go all the way down into the earth,

Stretching deep,

Deep into the center of the earth.

With each inhale,

Feel nourishment coming up from the core of the earth.

Allow its energy to come into your body.

With each exhale,

See all of your negative thoughts,

Your waste,

And things that no longer serve you,

Leaving through your feet,

Down into your roots,

And back into the center of the earth.

As you inhale,

Nourishment from the center of the earth travels up your roots into your body.

And as you exhale,

Dead or old energies leave through your roots,

Going back to the center of the earth.

Stay here,

Inhaling and exhaling,

Clearing your body through your roots.

Now let go of your roots,

Shed them from your feet,

And repeat silently to yourself,

My sacral chakra is working at normal function.

Now you continue on your journey,

Walking down the dirt path towards the mountain.

As you walk,

You feel nurtured and supported,

You are secure and safe.

You are almost at the base of the mountain.

When you arrive at the base of the mountain,

Take a moment to look up at the massive rock.

You look up and take in its strength and beauty.

You stand strong,

Your feet planted firmly on the earth.

Silently to yourself say,

I am the earth.

I am the mountain.

I am unmovable.

I am unshakable.

I take care of myself.

I am grounded.

I am strong.

I am safe.

Linger here and continue to take in the view,

Marveling at the presence of the mountain.

And then slowly bring your awareness back to the flow of your breath.

Notice the breath in and the breath out.

Feel the breath in your stomach as you breathe in and breathe out.

Become aware of your full body again,

Bringing your attention to your toes,

Maybe wiggling them back and forth.

Bring your attention to your fingers,

Maybe you give them a shake.

Feel your shoulders,

Maybe give them a shrug.

When you feel ready,

Slowly become aware of the room,

Noticing the sounds,

The temperature.

And then when you feel ready,

Can slowly open your eyes and return back into the room.

Thank you so much for joining me today for this root chakra meditation.

Please come back to this time and time again if it serves you,

Sending you love and light,

Many blessings.
