My friend Andrea, who’s 23 weeks along, requested this guided practice to feel a stronger connection to her baby. It includes a deep relaxation, some prompts that tap into deeper layers of knowing, excavating messages for the bae. Includes resourcing to strengthen your inside voice of wisdom, nourishment and feelings of safety and protection. Ya know, as a side note, this might be a fun one to listen to as it relates not just to a baby inside, but your inner child you hold within.

Transcript

Get in a comfortably seated or supine position.

Take your time to really wiggle and snuggle down into your body.

Move out all the kinks.

Let go of the day and the list and enter the sacred space and time you're giving yourself.

To simply let go and relax and be present with your body.

Take that time now to release your body to the position that feels most comfortable.

And I want you first to focus on your feet.

I want you to first focus on the bottom of your feet and the skin of the bottom of your feet.

And just simply notice some sensation there.

Noticing now,

Bringing your attention to the bottom side of your calves.

Both calves noticing any sensation.

Feeling the muscles release.

Gently moving your attention to the bottoms of your upper legs and your hips and your groin.

And the tops of your legs and letting your leg muscles fall slack,

Become heavy.

Noticing on the pelvic bowl,

Your groin,

Your hips.

Letting any clenching release.

There's any pain,

Follow the pain,

Be with it.

Like a quiet good friend in the room just noticing without judgment,

Without any requirement.

Just being with it.

Gently moving your attention to your lower back and inviting the muscles of your lower back that do so much work to release like a thick quicksand releasing,

Becoming heavy.

Letting gravity hold your back.

Gently moving your attention to your high back.

Noticing any sensation in your back.

With loving attention,

Just noticing what's there.

Gently moving your attention to your heart center.

And sensing any sensation of flutter,

Warmth,

Clenching.

Drawing in open any sensation occurring in this heart center in the chest.

And inviting the chest to relax and fall heavy.

And then knowing that you're safe in this container,

In this sacred time to let the body be at peace.

And as light as a feather's touch,

That's how gentle the noticing is.

And bringing that noticing attention gently and lovingly to your throat.

And sensing anything occurring in the throat connecting to the high chest.

And without any judgment,

Bringing love and loving attention to sensation or even non-sensation in the throat.

And gently glide that attention now to your jaw and your cheekbones.

Letting your jaw fall slack and like a thick warm honey across your cheeks.

Letting them fall gently heavy with relaxation.

And bringing your attention to your thinking muscle and imagining your thinking muscle relaxing.

And letting go,

There's no need to think.

Just let it be at rest.

And bringing your attention to your third eye in between your eyebrows,

Forehead,

Any sensation or energy in this area.

Gently noting and being with it.

Gently sensing any sensation in this area.

And now imagine your whole body.

Sense anything in your whole body becoming heavy and relaxed and the muscles letting go and surrendering.

Imagine your body in a big cushiony chair.

There's tons of soft pillows that you can sink into.

Just like you're on a warm,

Sinky cloud.

Just feel your body become heavy and relaxed and supported.

And as you're deeply relaxed,

I'm going to float a prompt,

A question in the space with you,

Like it just shares the space and floats around you.

No need to think about the prompt.

Let it be like a seed in a calm,

Still pond,

Crystal clear pond.

You could see the rocks at the bottom.

Let the seed float gently,

Wavering through the water to the bottom.

I want you to let the prompts be like the seed gently floating to the bottom of this contained beautiful,

Clear body of water.

And anything that naturally arises,

Allow it as information like bubbles might rise.

And if nothing occurs,

Enjoy the gentle,

Beautiful peace and the time of quiet.

And your first prompt is invite an image of the spirit of your baby.

Anything that occurs,

Literal,

Non-literal,

Just let that sink to the bottom of the pond,

The image of the spirit of your baby.

If the image shifts or changes,

Follow down that path.

Relax and enjoy the quiet.

And now I want you to feel,

I want to invite you to sense in your belly a color emanating from your belly.

Anything that rises and if it shifts or changes,

Allow it.

And if nothing occurs,

Sit in that silence and something might occur.

Imagining gently the color,

The edges,

Are they soft or sharp?

Is it a shape?

Is it glowing or growing?

Is it pulsating or vibrating or very sweet in stillness?

Imagining the shape as it takes form,

Imagining the color,

Letting the color occur.

Ready to식.

And gently,

Without any judgment,

Offering love and acceptance for the experience of the color in this moment.

And now we're going to add a prompt.

We're going to add a seed.

Let it float to the bottom of the clear water.

We're going to ask the color what's needed.

Let's ask the color in the belly what is needed.

And then we're going to ask the color what is needed.

And now,

As we reimagine the color in our belly center,

Letting it shift,

Letting it be,

We'll have a new prompt and ask the color in the belly is there any messages it needs to say.

Are there any messages?

How can that be closer?

Thank the color now for being here.

Thank the color now for being with you.

Now feel your body again on this beautiful squishy pillowed chair relaxing deeply in.

And we're going to imagine three resources.

These resources are protective,

Wise and nourishing.

And they help you and your baby feel strong and feel like you have everything that you need.

And the first resource I want you to imagine now is any one or anything that's protective.

It could be a person,

Amalgamation,

An imaginative character,

Just any protective energy.

Sense the feeling of protection and being protected among this energy or being.

Sense the feelings of feeling deeply protected and safe with the real vital strength of this being taking care of you.

And ask this protective being or nature if there's any messages it has for the baby.

Without any judgment,

Letting anything that arises like the bubbles through the clear pond water rising as information and messages.

And otherwise sitting in the gentle quiet.

The next resource we imagine a being or person or imaginative figure of someone who is wise.

Of someone who is wise.

Imagine this being now and the feeling of safety.

A feeling of safety receiving their wisdom and guidance.

Among this being,

Let them face you,

Look eye to eye,

Holding your hands.

And see if they have a message for the baby.

Thinking the wise energy sitting in your comfortable chair,

Sinking in total relaxation.

Imagining now your final resource and person amalgamation or figurative imaginative being that represents a nourishing energy.

Nurturing,

Loving,

Nourishing energy or person.

Imagine them with you now.

Imagine them offering what nourishing you need.

Intuit the craving inside and providing it gently for you now.

Feeling inside the sensations of feeling truly taken care of and nourished.

And now see if this nourishing being has any message now for your baby.

Thank you for watching.

These resources are with you and your baby providing for you.

Feeling protective,

Feeling protected,

Wise,

Feeling guided with strength and clarity,

And nourishing,

Feeling nurtured and that you always have enough.

And now I want you to imagine your back in the chair in this warm,

Pillowy,

Sinky,

Comfortable chair.

It's now sun-drenched in warm sunlight and you can feel the warm sunlight warming your skin and deeply relaxing you.

I want to invite you now to imagine your baby is with you in your arms and that you're holding your baby,

Feeling your heartbeat beating together with the heartbeat of your baby,

Separate but together.

And you can just imagine holding in peace in your comfortable safe chair,

Holding your baby now,

Being together in a comfortable,

Calm silence.

Imagine yourself and your baby wholly healthy,

Fully vital and sitting together in peace.

And sitting with gentle acceptance of anything that was experienced in this guided,

Sacred time and trusting that any messages don't need to be thought of,

But they sunk to the bottom of your subconscious and are with you like seeds growing into flowers and that there's nothing needed to be done.

Just trusting that new wisdom is with you and guiding you.

And now I want you to sense the top of your head,

Any sensation at the very tip top of your head,

Maybe a tingling or an energy or even a non-feeling and sense the top of your head.

And bringing that attention gently down to your face and your neck and your throat,

Just sensing now as we slowly and gently close any change in sensation in these areas,

Bringing yourself back into your body as we slowly bringing yourself into your body,

Into the room that's like a body containing you safely,

And then slowly sensing your chest and any sensations in your chest.

Sensing your belly,

Your stomach,

Sensing your baby in your belly,

Sensing how your baby's occurring in this moment,

The gentle non-movement or little wakes and nudges and kicks,

Sensing anything in your stomach area,

Your belly,

Your uterus,

Your baby,

And with love and acceptance being with it as it's occurring.

Bringing your hands now to your belly if you haven't already,

Letting your belly be sensed through your fingers,

Adding warmth and touch and vibration to your belly,

Letting your hands be the first moment of mothering,

Soothing,

Offering an awareness by physical touch that your baby can feel,

And now bringing your sense and your awareness into your legs,

And gently sensing any feelings in your legs,

And gliding your attention now to your feet,

Your feet rooted to the earth,

The sensation of your feet as grounding,

As if your feet,

Imagine them now standing on the earth on really strong,

Beautiful soil,

And that you have roots from your feet growing deep into the earth,

Deep into the soil,

And held firmly on a thick inner crust of earth,

Wrapping around and giving you deep sense of rooting and strength.

You are anchored in something so solid and bigger,

And allow yourself to gently come back into your body,

And let yourself gently come back to the room,

Noticing the sounds of the room,

Noticing the sense of the feel of your body as it meets gravity,

As you take all the time you need to be in this beautiful,

Quiet space,

Gently rising through the water to the surface of awareness,

And allowing yourself the luxury of time to yourself to gently come back to your body and back to the room.
