Welcome back to day five of your Embrace,

Empower and Evolve meditation series.

Go ahead and get back to your space by now.

This is your fifth day on,

Whether it be in a row,

Whether maybe you let some days in between,

It doesn't matter.

What's important is that you're this far,

That you're still committed,

Still persistent.

And it's beautiful that you have taken this time out for yourself.

Meditation really is an act of self-love,

Of self-care.

And it's through this care and sacred time that we set out for ourselves that we not only can have a better impact on our lives,

But we become a better person to be around.

So I want to just acknowledge that as you start to find your breath,

Find that natural rhythm that you've started to become a little more accustomed to,

A little more comfortable with.

Maybe getting into your breath,

Breath is just a little bit easier.

And as you breathe,

You can naturally,

You just start expanding outwards,

Expanding your chest and rooting down on your exhale.

Letting the thoughts,

Letting the morning,

The day,

The night,

Whatever has been in your mind,

Just letting it all go with each exhale.

Coming in to this present moment.

Today I'd like to start off with a little mindful exercise,

Just to really root us down in this present moment.

And as you're breathing,

Let's take your awareness to center of your back.

As you breathe,

You can almost feel like it's holding up the rest of your body.

If you're lying down,

Just notice how the center of the back feels might be a little different.

And really bring that down now to the base of your spine,

Getting rooted.

And as we have our roots,

Start to paint a picture of the room that you're in.

I know your eyes are closed,

But there's a good chance that you're pretty familiar with this room that you find yourself in.

Go ahead and notice or think about what the chair you're on looks like without looking at it.

What is in your environment?

Are you near your kitchen?

Is there a window maybe shining some light on through?

What does your coffee table look like?

Just start to paint a little picture of your room,

Wherever you are.

So notice how your mind has taken all these pictures of your space,

And you can recall easily just by thinking one thought to another.

It's the incredible capacity of our mind to take snapshots and store them in our brain.

Sometimes our mind takes too many snapshots and stores some things that we don't need to be there.

But this little exercise just helps us really get rooted to the present moment.

Seeing our surroundings without actually being there,

Noticing that we are right in the middle of it.

Starting to now come back to the awareness of your body,

Come back to the feeling of your hands on your knees.

Asking you now in this moment,

Are you holding on to anything?

As we'll talk about here in a little bit of this letting go,

What can you let go of right now in your body?

How can you relax a little deeper?

How can you feel that ache or feel that itch and not react to it?

Breathe into it and practice letting it flow away,

Separating your mind from whatever it is that interrupts or bothers you.

In the last meditation we talked about what we are going to create.

We had our vision.

I want you to bring really quick that vision back up to your mind.

When you see how it looks like,

Just by doing that you even feel that feeling that we cultivated in the last meditation.

It's exciting,

It's peaceful,

It's your highest joy.

In this moment,

Right now,

Just let go of it.

Let go of how you think that that is going to come to you.

If you have a plan,

Maybe a goal,

And that's okay,

You can still follow that plan,

But let go of everything going to plan right now.

Let go of it and let go of it.

Feel that it is not going exactly how you planned.

Feel what it would be like to have a setback and put yourself there.

Put yourself in the situation that you might inevitably face.

Put yourself in there now.

See how you would initially want to react when you have a failure.

Do you want to get angry?

Do you get depressed?

Put yourself there.

In that moment,

Just surrender.

Surrender that this not going to plan,

You having a setback,

Is actually maybe for your benefit.

Surrender that that setback.

You can apply this to anything that you are working on,

Any day-to-day activity,

That those things that come up that you see as not good,

Surrender to them.

Surrender to the thought that you think you know exactly the best path for you.

When you can see these situations in meditation,

Proactively practice surrendering and allowing that vision to come as it's supposed to,

Because the very,

Very good chance that that vision you have is going to come,

It will come exactly as it's supposed to,

But it's probably a little different.

The path may be a little different than the one that you have in your mind.

But in meditation,

We can actually go to those times where we can really use meditation before they end up happening.

Your business didn't get picked up.

Your family issue come in,

And you're stressed,

And it's causing you to get off path.

Surrender,

Whatever it is.

Practice allowing life to pull you rather than trying to push at it.

With each breath,

Surrender deeper to this moment.

By letting go of control,

So you don't have the control,

You have the vision.

Repeat that little affirmation,

I don't have the control,

I have the vision.

That doesn't mean to not do anything.

It just means that you don't know the best way this vision is going to come true for you.

So by practicing this now,

When you find yourself inevitably in those moments of despair,

Those moments of struggle,

Of questioning if this is the right thing,

You can come back to your breath.

You can come back to this little mantra,

This little saying,

And surrender.

Surrender that control.

See how,

Feel how free,

How free it is when we don't have control.

We are being guided,

Things are happening for us.

So when that happens,

You remember this meditation.

You pause before you react.

And you let go,

You surrender.

I have a vision,

I don't have control.

I have a vision,

I don't have control.

Breathing deeper into that surrender.

Letting life move for you,

Letting life move you in the path of least resistance.

Because that's where your truest joy and happiness lies in that path.

So now,

Whenever you are ready,

Come back to your body,

Come back to this space.

Let go once more time,

Let go of control and surrender just a little stronger.

And open your eyes.

Come back to your room,

See what you envisioned.

Namaste.

Hi Lou! My life has been kind of crazy lately and I haven’t made time for meditation when I need it most. Last time I meditated, I tried a couple of new teachers with meditations posted under the new listing and I did not really enjoy them. So tonight I looked for one of yours. I did this one and it was perfect for me! I need to look up the other four. I am so glad I found someone (you) on Insight Timer that I can always connect with! Thank you so much! You’re awesome!

How freeing it is when we don’t have control! Love that. The only part that didn’t work for me was the intro and using the visualization from a previous meditation (I guess this is one of many in a program) because I hadn’t participated in it, but I just tuned out the words in those moments and was able to relate deeply to the rest. Thank you!
