In this relaxing meditation,
We're going to be focusing on self-compassion and aim to activate the compassionate part of our minds to help us cope with the daily stresses and strains of life.
There is a compassionate part of our brain that is waiting to be activated in all of us.
And with mindfulness meditation,
It's been proven that this compassionate part of our brain can be activated very effectively.
Compassion is when we want to alleviate suffering,
Whether it be ourselves or the suffering of others.
We can find a stillness within ourselves amidst the strife,
Toil and chaos that can be surrounding us.
And sometimes events in life can cause us to feel stressed in body and in mind.
And sometimes it's important to realize that we need to have these things in order to feel the opposite to this when we feel relaxed and calm.
And at the time when we're going through something terrible or upsetting,
We feel as though we just want to push it away and wish it would all go away.
And sometimes we can't.
And this is where meditation and mindfulness and self-compassion comes in.
So with this meditation,
What I invite you to do is to aim to find a stillness within yourself amidst that strife,
Toil and chaos that may be surrounding you in your everyday life.
And to activate that compassionate part of your brain that we all have.
Sometimes life causes us to lose it.
There is a part of you deep within,
Just waiting to be rediscovered.
A part of you that knows everything about you,
Everything that's happened,
How you feel,
The way you feel,
Why you feel the way you feel.
Part of you that totally gets it all.
It has the deepest care,
Respect and compassion for you,
And a wisdom that you can tap into during these moments of stillness that I invite you to go on a journey to find with me now.
So start by taking three deep breaths,
Where you hold at the top of the breath,
Filling the lungs.
And then as you breathe out,
You let out a sigh and empty every last drop of air out of your lungs.
And then you breathe normally in between.
And then I will go quiet now while you do that two more times at your own pace.
And just by breathing in this way,
We send signals to the brain that all is okay.
That right here,
Right now,
There's no emergency to attend to.
And also by closing our eyes,
The brain starts to realize that right here,
Right now,
There is no threat.
The only threat that we have are the thoughts that pop into our minds,
And they're automatic.
So just imagine that those thoughts just pass us by.
Right here,
Right now,
You don't have to get caught up with them.
You notice them,
You acknowledge them,
But you let them pass like words on a screen,
Or like cars on a motorway.
Some are going fast,
Some are going slow,
They're all different sizes,
Colors and shapes.
There are six lanes on that motorway,
They're going in both directions.
But what you're doing is just watching from afar.
There's no need for you to go and walk amongst those vehicles on the motorway.
You just watch them from afar and activate your soothing,
Breathing rhythm,
Where you're aware of the in-breath and aware of the out-breath,
Of the in-breath and aware of your out-breath.
And maybe even noticing the tiny little pauses in between,
As you breathe in.
There's a tiny pause before you breathe out again.
As you breathe out,
That tiny pause before you breathe in again.
And just by slowing your breathing down and developing a soothing,
Breathing rhythm,
We stop to activate that compassionate part of our mind,
That stillness within ourselves amidst that strife,
Toil and chaos that might be surrounding you in your everyday life.
Part of you deep within,
Just waiting to be rediscovered,
Has the deepest care and compassion for you,
And a wisdom that you can tap into during these still moments.
It's a part of ourselves that's always there.
Our thoughts and our busy lives draw us away from it,
And sometimes we lose touch with it completely.
So,
See if you can really find this part of you,
This deep stillness inside,
Part of you that really,
Really understands,
Understands why you feel the way you feel,
And all that's happened to you.
And imagine now that there is a really kind,
Compassionate being approaching you while you're in this stillness.
It can be a person that you already know.
It can be an image,
Or an archetype,
Or just an energy,
An angel,
Or a fantasy character.
But this compassionate being is approaching you now,
And they have a smile on their face.
They have nothing but respect and kindness and care for you.
They understand.
They open their arms out to you and embrace,
And as they do this,
They almost lift any negative emotions away from you right here in this moment.
And you smile,
And they smile.
They just know what you need right now,
And they're passing this on to you while you're here deep in this stillness inside,
Deep inside of you.
You can feel that inner part of you absorbing their energy,
And they start to drift away from you now,
Still smiling,
And yet you know that the energy that they gave to you will remain with you.
And as you remain there in solitude,
And yet somehow not alone,
No matter what your beliefs,
Whether spiritual or not,
There is always a part of you within that can be your guide,
Your strength,
Your ultimate wise self.
Passionate,
Kind words can be spoken whilst you're here in this stillness.
These words may be words of past mentors,
Loved ones,
Or wisdom learned over time that's been buried with the rushing and the chaos of life.
It could even be words from ancestors passed through your DNA,
Or from spirit guides,
Or universal connection.
No matter where these words come from,
They're compassionate and kind.
They're respectful,
Understand the struggle to alleviate that struggle as much as possible while you're here in this stillness,
The center of you,
This quiet place.
When we access this stillness in this way,
You'll activate a deep calm in body,
Mind,
And spirit.
So,
I invite you now to just stay a while in this stillness,
This part of you that is wise and has the deepest care and compassion for you and a wisdom that will remain with you long after this meditation has ended.
Continue with the soothing breathing rhythm,
Feeling the positive energy of the guide that visited you,
Feeling that stillness within,
Locking in that wisdom,
Kindness,
That respect,
That strength that is within you,
Your ultimate wise self.
Feeling your body completely relaxed and your breathing soothing and calm.
You can remain here for as long as you need to.
You can choose whether you fall asleep or whether you stay here a while longer and open your eyes ready to go on with the rest of your day.
Namaste.
