This is a re-energizing meditation that you can use at any time during your day.
It's beneficial for you to sit up if you can,
But it's okay if you lie down too,
But it's really good to be aware of what's going on with your body as we embark on this meditation.
So sit yourself down and place your feet on the floor,
Your hands on your lap or wherever the most comfortable,
And just start to slow your breathing down slightly.
Take those steep breaths in,
Hold them,
And then long,
Slow out-breaths,
And we're just going to do that just for about four or five breaths,
Noticing the in-breath and the little pauses in between the in-breath and the out-breath.
Try not to force them,
Just do them in your own way.
No need for counting,
You're just slowing your breathing down.
And when you're ready,
As you're doing this soothing breathing rhythm,
Just close your eyes.
Research has shown that by easing ourselves into a soothing breathing rhythm in this way,
And then closing our eyes,
And taking a few moments out like this,
There are many,
Many changes for the better that happen within the brain.
Activates the part of the brain that alleviates stress and calms us down,
Mentally and physically.
So while you're there sitting down,
With a soothing breathing rhythm and your eyes closed,
Just notice the feeling of the chair beneath you.
Notice where it touches.
You can move yourself around a little to get yourself more comfortable,
And then wiggle your toes and notice how your feet are feeling right now.
You're not trying to change anything,
You're just noticing.
So you're breathing slower,
Your eyes are closed,
And you're noticing the chair,
Where it touches your body,
And your feet.
And then as you're sitting there with your eyes closed,
Imagine a scene from a movie,
Where you see a person sitting in a chair and then their surroundings change around them.
Imagine this is happening to you now,
Where you find yourself,
All of a sudden without explanation,
In the most wonderful place you've ever experienced.
It can be anything that comes into your mind.
A beach,
A meadow,
A forest,
The edge of a lake,
In front of a roaring fire,
A secret garden,
Or a beautiful room in a house.
Wherever it is,
It's created for you by the power of your own subconscious mind.
Take everything in,
Everything you can see pleases you,
Everything you can hear adds to your relaxation.
You feel really happy and safe while you're here.
You can actually feel the stress melting away from you.
There may be relaxing sounds too,
Sounds that are familiar or sounds you've never heard before.
And you can even smell relaxing smells that remind you of this place.
Open your eyes when you're ready.
Namaste.
