Here's a little night time meditation.
Especially for those nights when falling asleep is just that little bit harder than usual.
As you're laying in bed,
Your eyes are closed,
You're ready for sleep,
But it just eludes you.
You just can't fall asleep just yet.
I want you to try and find a position that's just a little bit more comfortable than the one that you're in right now.
Stretching out your toes a little bit,
Moving your neck or your head,
Fluffing that pillow.
Take a deep breath in and out.
Take one more deep breath in,
Holding it at the top,
In and out.
Concentrate only on your breathing for the moment.
Letting all those thoughts whirl around in your mind for now.
Let them go in,
Acknowledge them,
File them away for now.
There's nothing else that you can do.
It's time for sleep and rest.
Concentrate on your breathing.
Going back to breathing in,
Hold and out.
Maybe the sounds of the night are getting just that little bit louder now.
Not as many thoughts are creeping in,
But you're just listening.
You're more aware,
You're more in tune.
Start at the top of your body.
See how you feel,
Your head,
Space between your eyes,
Your jaw,
Is it relaxed?
Drop your shoulders,
Try and notice if there's any tension that you're holding there.
Your arms,
Your middle,
Your tummy,
What sensations do you feel?
Your legs,
Your knees,
Just release those feelings.
You may be subconsciously holding onto tension in any of these areas.
Your ankles,
Your toes.
Is there any areas that you feel any pain,
Discomfort?
Try and center your energy into those areas.
Center your own healing energy,
Releasing all the tension there,
Sinking deeper into your bed,
Sinking deeper into the night.
As your body relaxes further,
You feel your mind starts to clear,
Everything softens.
Is there anything that is amplified?
Go back to your breathing and out.
You are safe in this space.
You are warm,
You are calm,
You have love.
Feel the softness of the sheets below.
Take a deep breath in and out.
Welcoming the night,
Welcoming the sleep,
The chance for your body to heal,
To rejuvenate,
To refresh.
Tomorrow is a new day.
The sleep is wiped clean.
It is untouched.
It can be whatever you want it to be.
And for now,
All you need to do is sleep.
Let your body work its magic.
Let your body tick on through the night.
Functioning,
Healing,
Replenishing.
You don't have to do a single thing except sleep,
Surrender.
Tomorrow will be a new day,
A fresh day,
A clear day,
A day for clarity.
All you have to do is sleep.
Good night.
