This episode continues the question: How do the Three Principles relate to frightening events in the world? In today’s 5 Minutes in Nature, Liz reflects on how life becomes easier to navigate when we understand how experience is created. Recognising that we arise from universal, loving energy — and that the Three Principles help us see this — brings a deeper sense of steadiness. When we remember that people caught in painful thinking have simply forgotten their true nature, compassion naturally follows. From this understanding, we see more clearly how to support others and ourselves.

Hello and welcome to five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott and I am out in a very blowy,

Blowy November day.

The skies are grey,

The clouds are low and later on in a couple of hours time heavy rain is forecast.

I feel quite lucky because the rain originally was forecast for the whole of the day but there's a little bit of dryness which I'm taking advantage of and going out for a walk.

I'm walking along a little pathway that takes me up onto Dartmoor itself and you can probably hear I'm a little bit breathless.

I'm still a little bit bunged up with a cold but getting so much better and I do love getting outside.

Yesterday I reflected on the question that was asked of me a few weeks ago which was how do we apply the three Ps to all the frightening events in the world and do you remember yesterday I looked at the difference between an application which is like a technique and the difference between applying the three principles as you would a technique and understanding the three principles or the inside out as an understanding.

The big difference is the realisation that the inside out understanding isn't telling you how to live life,

It's explaining how life works and when you understand how life works then it just makes things easier.

You align yourself with the way that life actually works and I want to take this idea on a bit further today because understanding the nature of thought which we touched on yesterday is really really helpful.

Understanding that we are at our core resilient and wise,

We are the energy of life itself taking form as humans and life seems to have moments where we forget who we truly are and then we remember again.

So yesterday was a reflection on the usefulness of understanding how life works,

Understanding we are the power of the universe,

We are the love and universal energy and that we get lost as human beings in the power of thought.

But those two things happen and there's nothing wrong,

That's a design and it's all fine.

So how do we apply the three Ps to frightening events in the world?

Such a great question and what I'm seeing and what I've been reflecting on and what I want to share with you is this.

When you understand the nature of thought,

When you understand the inside out understanding,

When you see how life works,

When you understand why other people are behaving the way that they behave,

Then things become easier.

So for example when I understand the nature of thought,

When I understand for myself that if I get lost in unsettling frustrated thinking then I'll feel unsettled and frustrated or maybe that thinking is overwhelm and I get a sense of overwhelm or I'm not good enough.

When I get lost in that thought pattern,

Those thought loops,

Then I experience the whole world according to those thought loops and it's really useful to understand that because if it happens to me then it's happening to everybody.

So the way that I see it is that as I understand and look at the world I see that there is a lot going on in the world which is dictated by fear,

Which is dictated by separation.

When you believe your thoughts you think we're separate,

When you believe your thoughts you think that the people and events have the power to make you feel a certain way.

When you believe your thoughts then you kind of feel that everybody needs to think the same way as you otherwise how can the world get on.

When you believe your thoughts then it can lead to this sense of scarcity of needing to attack or to defend and when you believe your thoughts,

When you've got people that believe in attacking and defending well you've got a ready made recipe for war.

So all I can offer is that as I understand the nature of what's going on I understand that people are scared and I understand they believe their thoughts and they act accordingly and for me what feels important is to remind myself of the truth of who I am at my core,

The universal energy taking form in the world and it feels important that not only do I remind myself but I remind others too.

That feels as though I'm being very much drawn to do that in the world.

So when I realize the truth of who I am then I don't react,

I don't believe the thoughts that have me feel I need to attack or defend.

Instead I rest in that place of love and I see love rather than fear.

So for me that is the answer to the question how do we apply the three principles to frightening events in the world.

We understand for ourself,

We understand who we truly are and we naturally forgive others for their behavior because we realize that they get lost in their thoughts just like us.

Get rid of the word “They” and becoming aware of the word “Us”, reveals the power of peace. 😌
