There is a beautiful balance in being fully human while remaining deeply aware of your spiritual essence. In today’s 5 Minutes in Nature, Liz reflects on the freedom that arises when you allow universal energy to flow through you and be expressed in your own unique way. We are both spiritual beings and human beings, and this is a special and beautiful experience.

Hello and welcome to Five Minutes in Nature with me Liz Scott,

High up on Dartmoor,

Walking across the moorland and there are tiny little pockets of snow that are still left.

There's bright sunshine at the moment and a cool breeze and out of the sunshine,

Sheltered little pockets of snow,

I'm crunching through them and that very pleasant sort of crunch that you get as you walk through untrodden snow.

And today is a kind of continuation really of reflections on what I've been looking at in recent days.

If you remember,

We looked at a couple of days ago the sense of thought,

The sense of thought in the absence of thought,

What's left and I particularly was interested in the question of past and future.

It's like if we don't have thought,

What is left?

Does the past exist?

Well the past only exists for us,

For me,

Through thought.

Things happened in the past but the only way for me to recall them is through thought and without thought,

What's left?

That was the question I asked a couple of days ago and then yesterday was an exploration into this sense of knowing,

Which is beyond thought,

At the foundation below thought,

What is left?

It's,

To me,

This sense of awareness,

Of knowing and as soon as we put language on it of course we've lost the essence of it but if you get a chance to reflect quietly,

Gently,

Curiously,

What is left without thought?

Then I'd be curious if you too get this sense of a deeper knowing and that's what we explored yesterday.

And today taking that forward is what would it be like to live life from this deeper knowing?

When I get a sense of this energy,

Potential,

The potential energy of life creating and again when I put language to it I don't do justice to it but that sense I get when I fall into that space between thoughts,

Below thoughts,

From which thought comes,

When I fall into that space I don't feel like I'm an individual,

I feel as though I am eternal,

I am ever present,

There is a sense of no beginning or end,

Just a sense of forever.

It's hard isn't it to find language so I hope you stay with me,

Stick with me as I try and explain this idea that keeps coming to me and I want to share.

And I see that we are all creations of this potential energy,

You,

Me,

Everybody,

But we are at our essence this energy,

The energy of life.

All of us come from the same energetic place which is why you,

Me,

Anybody who you talk to or who we talk to will ultimately know a sense,

Have a sense of knowing,

Have a sense of awareness,

Have an awareness of their thoughts,

Of their thinking,

Of being and that sense of awareness is shared by everybody,

That's who we truly are.

It's the I am,

The I before we become creations in the world and what I find particularly nourishing is the reflection that when I realise that and then I stand in who I truly am and I stand in the humanity of being Liz,

Liz with all her foibles,

With all her skills,

With all her talents,

Liz the introvert,

The reflector,

The one who loves nature,

Liz the one that loves to write,

Who loves to do recordings,

When I stand in this Liz and allow the energy of life to filter through this creation that is Liz,

That's when I experience true freedom,

That's when Liz is able to truly be herself in the world and for me this is a wonderful reflection without thought,

Without limiting beliefs,

Without beliefs,

Who would I be in the world,

What wants to be expressed through me,

What wants to be articulated,

What wants to be created,

Who or what wants to shine through me,

What would it look like and that's the question I'm asking you today in the absence of thought,

In the absence of beliefs,

When you fall back into that sense of knowing who you truly are and then you also stand in being human and being an individual without the beliefs,

If you were able just to shine in the world what would that look like for you?

Very thought provoking meditation. I’m grappling a bit with, of course, a thought about how the past can manifest itself in the present. Past experiences might leave a change that we now see in the present in ourselves or in the world around us. I’m wondering how that fits with the idea that the past exists only in our thought. I’ll be listening to this again knowing more insight will come in time! Thank you for sharing this with us.

Very deep. Very thought provoking. Without thought… the past is just the rearranging of energy as we move through ‘time’ and how it informs our ’knowing’. Maybe 🤔 Thanks Liz 🙏🏻
