The Three Principles of Mind, Thought, and Consciousness are underpinning spiritual truths that point to the inherent mental wellbeing within everyone. These Principles were first articulated by Sydney Banks in the 1970s. In this guided reflection Liz invites you to reflect on each principle and to feel the power of these principles within your life. Hello and welcome to this reflection about the three principles.

You're going to be guided to reflect on the three principles or the three Ps and to get a felt sense of these principles in your life.

The three Ps are the principle of mind,

The principle of thought,

And the principle of consciousness.

Remember these are principles.

They are spiritual facts and are the common denominator for everyone on earth.

You live in a diverse world where we all have different views,

Personalities,

Characteristics,

And behaviors and yet we are all the same.

We are all sourced from the same spiritual energy and this is what the three principles points to.

The principles remind us of what unites us.

All of us.

There are no exceptions.

So sit down in a comfortable position on a chair with your legs uncrossed and your feet on the floor.

Close your eyes and take in three breaths with me.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Let us start with the principle of thought.

Notice your thoughts and thinking.

How does your thinking turn up for you?

Is it a voice or an image or a feeling?

Can you remember what you were doing before you started this meditation?

What were you doing?

Bring it to mind.

What will you be doing after the meditation?

Bring this to mind.

Notice the power of thought to remind you of the past and to imagine a future.

Neither the past nor the future exist other than through the medium of thought.

Thought is a brilliant friend and a brilliant creator.

Thank your thought for doing such an incredible job.

Thought guides you through life.

Let's move on to the principle of mind.

Breathe deeply and bring your awareness within.

Allow your thinking to settle and feel or sense the power of the principle of mind.

I'm not talking about your little busy finite mind.

I'm not talking of the mind that judges or makes lists or feels insecure.

I'm talking about the power of mind as an energy,

A powerhouse.

The principle of mind is the intelligence and deep energy of the universe.

It is the source of intuition and wisdom.

The principle of mind is always present.

You feel it with a sense of flow or clarity.

You feel the principle of mind with a sense of contentment or joy or gratitude.

Be present to the principle of mind and feel that expansive connection,

That sense of grounded love.

Notice your thinking settle as you experience your mind.

Feel it with me now.

Breathe into that intuition and wisdom.

The final principle is the principle of consciousness.

This is your awareness.

What is your awareness?

Ask yourself who or what is the part of me that feels and experiences life?

What is the knowing part of me?

What is the present part of me?

Reflect on this and ask yourself the question what is the knowing present part of me?

The principle of consciousness is the part of you that notices.

Consciousness is always tapping on your shoulder encouraging you to look away from the busyness of thought,

To look away from agitation and worry.

Consciousness is encouraging you to seek out the powerful wisdom of the principle of mind.

If you feel agitation or worry,

Those uncomfortable feelings are consciousness.

They're a friend reminding you to allow your thinking to settle and to look towards your inner wisdom,

The wisdom of the principle of mind.

The principles of mind,

Consciousness and thought unite us all.

We are all derived from the same source.

You and I may look or sound different but we are the same.

We come from the same divine energy that takes form as a finite mind and body.

Allow yourself to settle and notice the gratitude that spills through you.

Feel your energy,

Feel the wisdom and intuition that is guiding you in your life.

This is your inner compass.

Allow your compass to guide you home.

It's now time to finish this guided reflection.

It's time to feel your body,

To feel your feet on the ground and to open your eyes and wiggle your fingers and if you feel the need stretch yourself out.

Well done and if you'd like to know more about the three principles then take a look at my beginners course.

I'll leave a link in the meditation notes.
